Our local partner in Brazil shares the same values about environmental conservation and promotion of responsible and sustainable travel in Brazil that we do. In 2015 we obtained our Travelife Better Places Partnership. Our partners were the first travel company in Brazil to secure their Travelife for Tour Operators certification demonstrating our mutual goal to offer positive impact trips to Brazil.

We use carefully selected accommodation for our customers, who already have well implemented sustainability policies; or, are working towards their sustainable tourism certification such as our hotel in the Pantanal, highlighting their commitment to continuous improvement. Here in the UK we recycle as much of our waste as we can, using a closed-loop recycling company and actively encouraging our staff to think about the waste we have through workshops and monthly updates.

The first paragraph of our Basic Information for Visitors that all our clients receive with their welcome letter and booking details handles the issue of sustainability. In it we give 10 tips on how our customers can contribute to sustainability while travelling around in Brazil and become a responsible traveller.

The guides are all local and have an in-depth knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Pantanal, making sure it is respected by staff and visitors alike during excursions.

People

When our customers book a trip to Brazil with us we offer them a chance to donate to the local project we support in Rio de Janeiro. Casa de Santa Ana is a home for the elderly in one of the poorest slums. The money donated goes towards providing meals, medical assistance and support for their families. It is also possible for us to arrange a visit to our local project for our customers.

During our trip in Rio de Janeiro we include a visit to the favelas with a local guide to gain an insight into daily life here. Our partner in Brazil ensures that all the local guides have flexible working hours and fair working conditions.

At home we also strive to support local businesses, charities and the community. We offer all our staff a day out of the office to volunteer at the charity of their choice. We also use a local catering company for fresh, healthy lunches in our Brighton office everyday, and use a local recycling company for all our waste.
