This tour gives customers the chance to visit an astonishing 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including many beautiful old towns and also Auschwitz, which is included on the tour. The money goes straight back into preserving these sites and also educating the public about the importance of keeping history alive for generations to come. Our tour leaders educate all passengers on the importance of respecting these sites and leaving them as they found them.
Our tour leaders ask that travellers respect signage, to take only photographs and leave no litter or waste behind. Clients are advised during the pre departure meeting to practise eco ways of travelling such as ensuring all lights are switched off in hotel rooms before leaving, reusing towels and bed linen and avoiding plastic bottles where possible. These points are reiterated by our tour leader while the group is travelling.
The hotel that we use in Tallinn has been awarded with the environmental green key - they use aerators in sinks to limit water consumption, shampoo and soap dispensers instead of one use plastic containers and eco label toilet paper.
The Impacts of this Trip
All our customers are encouraged to learn a few words and phrases of the language and interact with the locals as much as possible to enhance their social experiences on tour. Travellers are also encouraged to take part in city walking tours, supporting local guides and learning more about the destination from local experts.
Accommodation and Meals:
While breakfast is included in all hotels on this tour, lunches and dinners are not which gives the perfect opportunity for customers to try out local markets and restaurants. Our Tour Leaders know the best places to eat in each city, always supporting smaller and where possible local restaurants and cafes. Customers are always advised where the best markets are in each city in order to experience where the locals shop and to pick up some fresh and authentic foods. We aim to use local, smaller accommodation wherever possible on tour to support smaller businesses.
This tour includes excursions to both Auschwitz, just outside Krakow, and the Museum of Occupation and Freedom Fights in Vilnius. On both these excursions local guides are hired, not only providing business for them but also providing customers with the most accurate and personal educational experience possible.
