Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Cambodia and Thailand holiday

Environment

Throughout our Cambodia adventures we like to encourage real experiences and interactions with the Cambodian people in a responsible way. Cambodia has some untouched landscapes and warm friendly locals and we want to keep it that way.

Throughout the itinerary the local guides employed will offer advice on how to lessen your impact on the environment, particularly at Angkor Wat where they suggest and encourage visiting some of the lesser known temples to reduce wear and tear and also take you to the areas of re generation so show how the temples are maintained.
Along the way you’ll travel using a mix of shared transport, trains and domestic flights. These shared transport options, such as a minibus, are kinder to the environment than if everyone were to take a private transfer.

Our local partner share our values when it comes to maintaining the environment, from recycling in the office to ensuring the local flora and fauna is maintained during the trips they offer.

In Cambodia we offer our customers the chance to donate to and visit the Cambodia-Dutch Foundation which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the well being of the Cambodian people through various aid projects. In rural areas they run water management projects to educate the local people and conserve this precious natural resource. They also raise funds and collect much needed goods such as clothing, tools and toys for those in need of support

We advise all customers travelling to Cambodia and Thailand what they can do before and during they travel on how they can be responsible travellers. Including tips on how to be considerate of their water and electricity consumption in hotels and to inform them of any animal exploitation in the places they will travel to.

Community

Wherever we can we try to source trips in Cambodia which benefit the local community. In this itinerary you will stay in a traditional bungalow in a small rural village between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Here you will get a real taste of Cambodian hospitality from your hosts, a local family. You'll help out with the daily tasks from silk weaving to the rice harvest - whatever needs doing depending on the season.

On this trip you will travel out to the small countryside village of Kampong Thom. Here you’ll cycle to nearby temples, sleep in a traditional stilted hut and lend a hand in the nearby village to the local community project in the countryside where you'll be staying. We use local Cambodian guides across this entire trip, which helps to put money directly into the pockets of the local people.

We use small-scale hotels and local guides and drivers during our trips which help give back to the communities and give something back to the people working and living in Cambodia. Our product specialists and our local partner are constantly working together to create meaningful experiences for our customers which also benefit local people.
