Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Umbria easy guided walking holiday, 8 days

1)We carefully select our suppliers among the ones that sustain the environment: chosen accommodations are doing many efforts to recycle waste, for example, and to use renewable energy; restaurants are using mostly local products, possible organically grown, and buying them at farmers market or directly at the producers. Wine farms are careful to preserve antique varieties of grapes, so supporting biodiversity.
2) The goal of the Umbria Region is to achieve the 65% of separate collection of rubbish in a few years. Some of the 92 Umbria municipalities have reached it yet. We help support Umbria environment giving to our clients information to support recycling explaining how to divide rubbish and where to throw it away. We provide our travellers with a simple guide with instructions to sustain recycling: check our little guide before disposing of your garbage to be eco-friendly!
3) We support a local NGO, TAMAT that is working on food security projects in Mali and Burkina Faso, where it has been realized a pedagogical restaurant: eat well at a fair price with dishes based on local ingredients! We also support a project on Responsibile tourism for indigenous people living around the lake, in Bolivia and Perù. Furthermore, we organize awareness raising workshops and events, mainly in the schools, about Healthy Food.

1)We support local enterprises adding to our tours visits and tasting in wine cellars, olive oil mills and beer factory (this one in particular is a social enterprise).
2)We provide information to visit local art & crafts workshops that valorise local culture and traditions, using local products in a responsible way (olive tree wood handicraft, for example) or that support the community and social enterprises..
3)We suggest visiting and buying at “mercati a chilometri zero”, local markets where farmers from the surroundings sell directly to the consumers their products, so supporting small producers, biodiversity, local products, no GMO. Due to the fact that the farmers are not travelling more than 40 kilometres, you support also to preserve the environment and to lessen pollution.
4) We are associated to Le Mat - social entrepreneurs in tourism. This is their manifesto: " We would like a tourism able to open the minds towards those who are different from us, a tourism where you can meet people who are curious to meet you; where through travelling and discovering unfamiliar methods, thoughts and actions you can listen to thousands of stories and experiences of different cultures of local communities willing to exchange with and to welcome who come from abroad ...". We work with their franchisees, for example with an hostel located in the most beautiful square of one of the Medieval cities where the tour will bring you, that was once a convent of nuns. They promote meetings with local people living in the village, as Luciana, a woman that handweaves wool dyed only with vegetal colours from saffron and onion.
