Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

On this 10 day whirlwind tour passengers can discover the highlights of Cambodia. Entry fees to top highlights such as Angkor Wat go back into the maintenance of these special attractions. We use expert tour leaders and local guides to educate our passengers on the sites that we visit. Part of this is making sure that our travellers do not leave anything other than a footprint behind whilst visiting these attractions, as well as not taking anything that may be part of the site .

We endeavour to make sure our passengers behave responsibly in South East Asia and do not offer any optional activities that may be seen as irresponsible including those that affect animal welfare such as elephant riding and tiger sanctuaries.

This tour is operated on local transport which minimises our carbon emissions and allows travellers to interact with others they meet on the way. With a maximum group size of 19 people, it means we can make use of the local infrastructure and do not require large coaches that cause road congestion in an already busy corner of the world.

Travellers are asked to adhere to responsible travel practises including switching off all electricity and air conditioning before leaving a room, requesting for hotels not to change towels everyday unless needed and disposing of all litter and waste appropriately.

We visit a number of destinations on this tour that give a true insight into Cambodia and educate passengers on the history and culture of this country. For instance from Phnom Penh we visit the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum where passengers get a tour around the complexes. They will be taught about the Pol Pot regime and how far Cambodia has come since then.

Our tour leaders also encourage passengers to help the local community by eating at locally owned establishments and visiting local markets throughout the tour. This includes small food stalls and handmade crafts. Travellers are advised against shopping in larger shops that sell mass produced souvenirs that are imported.

Like on all of our Group Tours, where possible we always try and benefit the local communities we travel through. On this particular tour, we stay in locally owned hotels and guesthouses and our experienced tour leaders recommend private restaurants specialising in the local cuisine.
