Description of Costa Rica tailor made holiday, romantic getaway

Home to a diverse mix of landscapes, forests and beaches, but compact enough to visit in a week, Costa Rica is a glorious destination, and this relaxed, tailor made holiday makes a perfect romantic getaway, with a mix of activities to enjoy and wonderful, luxury accommodation.

Begin your holiday in the northwest of Costa Rica close to the dramatic Arenal Volcano, which dominates the landscape for miles around. Known for its beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife, this region is also an adventure sports hub, so we have included a canyoning adventure and a guided hike of the Arenal Volcano, taking in the hot springs and finishing with a buffet dinner. Your base here is the Hotel Nayara Arenal, which sits right in front of the Arenal Volcano with amazing views and lush gardens. Breakfast each day is included, as are yoga classes, a night frog tour and $50 per person to spend at the hotel’s spa.

Your next destination is the beach at Manuel Antonio National Park, on the Pacific coast. Spend three nights here at the Makanda by the Sea hotel, where you’ll have a Renewed Luxury Villa, your own private pool and a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for you. There are more included activities to enjoy here, with a guided visit to Manuel Antonio National Park and a beach-hopping tour, which includes surfing and paddleboarding lessons, equipment, a visit to a waterfall, lunch, fresh coconut water to drink and comfy hammocks to relax in. There are also a whole range of other optional activities to consider here, if you’re feeling energetic, or simply take things slow and savour your time in this beautiful part of the country.

Carbon reduction

We believe tourism should be educational and sustainable, as well as entertaining. We designed this trip to contribute minimal impact to the local environment with positive benefits to the local communities. All guides follow strict “green ethics”. Reusable water bottles are provided in an effort to encourage less waste and discourage the need for plastic throw-away bottles.

Our local tour operator was among the first in Costa Rica to receive the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism designation, awarded by the Costa Rican Tourism Board. This award is given to companies who consistently achieve or exceed their standards of environmental sustainability, business ethics and cultural sensitivity. They support conservation projects in Costa Rica ranging from rural development programs to sea turtle nest protection and community education programs. Their efforts have been recognized with an Ecotourism Excellence Award from Conservation International. Local personnel participated in a Sustainable Practices workshop given by Rainforest Alliance to learn how to minimize their carbon footprint.

All activities in and around the national parks in Arenal and Manuel Antonio are ecologically responsible and low-impact: hiking, canyoning, rappelling, paddleboarding, beachcombing, surfing. Guides always practice ‘Leave No Trace’ ethics and give clear and committed instructions for interacting with nature and wildlife with efforts to preserve and leave undisturbed the beauty for generations to enjoy. While enjoying the beauties of the forest at the National Parks, we encourage our guest not to feed the wild animals as this will affect their health and their abilities to catch their own food. Some other instructions will be given, like stay always on the trails in order to avoid any further disturbance to the environment, take all the trash with you and keep it at the designated containers for recycle.

Their ground vehicles use biodegradable and renewable bio-diesel.

At the Arenal Nayara hotel natural light is taken full advantage of in all facilities; rooms have screens that allow for cross ventilation. CFL light bulbs are used that conserve energy and rooms are equipped with energy-saving key cards that automatically turn power off as soon as the guest leaves the room. Guests are encouraged to reuse towels and linens; faucets and showers have flow reducers and aerators that conserve water, and toilets have dual flush retrofits. Cleaning products are biodegradable and non-toxic. The Manuel Antonio hotel, Makanda-by-the-Sea, was designed using natural materials, installing energy saving technology and an energy-efficient in-house smart system.

Check the balance of adventure and conservation while enjoying all the activities that we have prepared for you. Paddle boarding, Canyoning and surfing are great ways to get to enjoy the surroundings, this also will consume all your energy and would never affect the environment. The activities that you will enjoy are Carbon free, this means that you will be enjoying the country with a no contaminating emissions that will harm the world.
