Responsible tourism: Tour de France 2018 Pyrenees cycling tour

Offering cycling trips, we believe this is one of the most environmentally-friendly ways to travel. We think that the Tour de France is itself a very environmentally friendly type of race, and the more you know about this beautiful cycling race, the more you realize how it is helping the community and the nature. Tour de France every year has many sponsorship projects – we are talking tens of organizations that are supported to help to preserve the nature around the tour course and the same if not more businesses that give away free bicycles to communities around to ensure bicycling popularity.

We believe that by participating in this event we are also popularizing cycling and Tour the France will truly give benefit to the large communities and nature in France. Every year the Tour officials clean up all the route from the plastic waste thus cleaning any garbage that was there even before. This way we can make sure that roads will be cleaner and more litter free than when we arrived.

Tour de France example has started many campaigns around the world aimed at cyclists to avoid any littering along the way in their training or racing and UCI has even came up with many comprehensive plans to fight the dirty road-sides.

Le Tour de France is undoubtedly the main event in cycling. We try to give our guests the best experience while watching the king of the cycling races, but we never forget about locals and their benefit.

Tour de France goes through many small villages in France and Spain - Pyrenees and Alps. For many local farmers and small businesses this is that one time in the year where they can engage with tourists and visitors like us. For example recently our tour route went through Bagnères-de-Luchon town in the Pyrenees, so we made sure our guests had the opportunity to forget the big city habits and spoil themselves to some more rural experience.

Of course our choice in these smaller towns is guided by local advice, we often make friends with locals so they can tell us the best places not only for a night’s stay but also for some fresh Pyrenees food experience.

Lots of local jobs are supported by the accommodations we stay at and by the Tour de France event itself.
