Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Wildlife : We promote conserving wildlife by requiring our local guides to inform guests of any wildlife they may encounter or that exists in the region in which we're traveling. For example, the guide on our catamaran cruise will be well-versed in the marine life of the area and will let travelers know what is being done to preserve it as well as what they can do to help.Waste : We encourage guests to engage in 5 minute beach clean ups whenever possible which we feel is a great, quick and easy way to keep the beaches clean for everyone as well as the flora and fauna inhabiting it. We also encourage guests to carry reusable, water filtering bottles so they can safely consume tap water and thus, greatly reduce the amount of plastic bottles used.
Water : All guests are urged to be conscious of their water usage while taking showers, washing their hands, brushing their teeth, etc. We try to lodge in accommodations that share these values.
Energy : By staying in one hotel during this staycation, the amount of fuel powered transportation is greatly decreased. In fact, most activities are within walking distance of the accommodation so the only energy needed is from your own 2 legs!
People
Friends & neighbours : We utilize locally owned and operated accommodation on this staycation to ensure that local businesses that don't have big corporate backing can stay afloat, especially in these difficult times where so many small businesses are losing clients because of the lull in tourism. The same goes for all restaurants in which we dine, guides whose services we use and so on. As a small business ourselves, we believe in supporting local businesses whenever possible to keep on stimulating the local economy.A fair deal : We offer all local guides & vendors with whom we work high quality working conditions, wages well above the local standard and incentivize them through passing on to them customer feedback and offering bonuses for quality work. We also ask that our guides be well versed in local issues in order to promote social and cultural exchange with our travelers.
Local crafts and culture : Our guides will always point travelers in the direction of all the best local artisans' shops and markets in order to support local arts and crafts. The guide is also an expert in all museums, exhibits and galleries for any type of interest that a customer may have. We feel this is important because not only does it rich the traveler's experience, but it also supports local artisans and cultural establishments.
