Description of Provence gourmet tour in France

This Provence gourmet tour is based in the traditional Provencal village of Fuveau, which has a wonderful location between the Aix en Provence and Marseille. It also has Sainte-Victoire Mountain as a backdrop, which you can explore on a walking trip as part of this holiday, staying in a villa in the village.

This is a tailor made holiday and so we can create an itinerary to suit your timeframe, however our itinerary below has been carefully crafted to make the most of our expert guides in the region, ranging from olive oil experts to a chef and sommelier who gives you a memorable foodie tour of Aix en Provence.

Aix-en-Provence is a stunning town to explore with its Roman heritage, elegant fountains and 17th century architecture as well as its famous food and local produce markets. This region is also famous for its artists and artisans, so enjoy the chance to walk in the Cezanne’s footsteps, for example, up to Mont Sainte-Victoire. Other famous painters who have been inspired by this region include Picasso and Kandinsky and we hope that after some time being guided by our local experts you will also be inspired creatively, be it in cuisine, art or even soap making.

Environment

Our agency tries to promote mainly eco-friendly activities with no harm to environment. Our holidays have a very strong focus on nature and the environment.

In this program, you'll be going along Aix-en-Provence and also through minor roads, small villages and rural areas. The included walking tours in these program are a unique way to approach the Provence.

You will discover the beauty of the Saint Victoire mountain (natural park) and the fantastic eco-friendly city of Aix-en-Provence where cars are not allowed inside the city center!

The large area around Sainte Victoire is officially designated as a "Grand Site" ("Major Site"): one of about three dozen areas of outstanding scenic and/or cultural interest in France. The Grand Site Sainte Victoire covers 34,500 hectares / 85,000 acres and extends north as far as Saint Paul les Durance.

Our passionate nature guide, will take you on an easy trail along the Mount Saint-Victoire and draw your attention to the region’s rich fauna, caressed by nature and climate. This is a diverting interactive workshop teaching you how to identify and recognize different plant species, among them, crop and medicinal plants.

We focus our guest’s attention on local efforts to preserve flora and fauna and we like to think holidays significantly contribute to raising awareness environment. We ask our guests to be aware of their electricity and hot water consumption when they travel with us. We advise our guests about local regulations and protected areas at each destination.

Our office minimizes the use of paper by using internet, emails and for marketing purposes we also make use of websites. Our vouchers are electronic to avoid massive use of paper. When we have to use paper, we use the APUR paper, and our Brother’s cartridges are brought to the recycle center, which has a partnership with CoolEarth.

In this program, we also work with local people to protect cultural heritage.

Along the program you will meet 3 typical local producers from the area which will show you their work and production. (Olive oil, soap, cheese). You will meet two fantastic guides which will show you the inside of the city of Aix-en-Provence and the famous Saint Victoire mountain. Finally, you will be staying in a local homestay in the vicinity of Aix-en-Provence in the small community of Fuveau. Your host is living a typical Provencal villa.
