Jordan horse riding holiday

Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

When you visit Petra, your entry ticket for the site is included in this tour. The Petra Authority works hard to conserve the site. And so conservation and restoration fees are included in the entry tickets. Conservation is done by employing people from the local community who keep an eye on the site and by placing extra garbage bins. The site gets cleaned up a lot and all of those fees are included in your entry tickets.

It is believed that still a lot of Petra is burrid under the sand and every day new discoveries are still made. Restoration of Petra's beautiful facades is an ongoing task. By visiting the site you help along and more discoveries will be made.

Your local horse guide will make sure to give you a briefing about the rules you are expected to follow during this tour. Besides safety regulations, it is also made sure that no rubbish is left behind. You are asked to not leave anything behind except footprints. Waste is a big problem in the area around of Petra and it is important that good examples are given at all times.

During your Nabatean Starrides Tour you will be staying in locally owned hotels. By staying in these hotels you will provide the local community with a good income which will help to support their families.

Overall poverty is high, especially in the Southern Jordan. Tips are therefore also highly appreciated by everyone. By booking a tour with us and giving small tips to the people that serve you, you can make a big difference in the life of the people who live in these local communities. You will be taken and shown where you can eat really nice traditional Jordanian food in local owned restaurants and shops.

Your horses will be rented from local people and they will be given a fair compensation in return.

You also have the option to attend the Petra Kitchen cooking course. Here you learn how to cook traditional Jordanian food alongside local women, giving them the opportunity to help support their families.
