Description of Thailand family tour, elephants and Islands

This Thailand family holiday is a carefully crafted itinerary, with a wonderful mix of both wildlife and beach adventures. As this is a tailor made holiday we can tweak it to fit with your familyís interests, budgets and time frame. With two or three days in each location, your Thailand tour starts in Bangkok, which you can explore by bike, stay in a riverfront hotel and discover the floating markets, temples and many other cultural wonders of this nonstop city.

From Bangkok, your adventure continues on board a sleeper train up to the north of the country to Chiang Mai, famous not only for its ancient heritage but also an important elephant sanctuary. Heading back south, this time by internal flight right down the southern peninsula, Khao Sok National Park is an incredible place to spend a couple of days, a real rainforest wilderness, where you get a chance to experience community life and stay in floating bamboo cottages on the lake.

Your final few days are all about family beach time and no better place than on Thailandís idyllic islands. The first stop is Ko Phangan, Thailandís fifth largest island with white sandy beaches and a tropical, hilly interior. From here to Koh Ma which is adjoined to Ko Phangan by a spit and where the snorkelling is second to none. The last island spot is world famous Ko Samui with its myriad beaches, some party ones or other quieter ones, where you also pick up one more internal flight back to Bangkok where your holiday draws to a close.

Hello. If you'd like to chat about this holiday or need help finding one we're very happy to help. Rosy & team.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Thailand family tour, elephants and Islands

We are committed to supporting wildlife experiences that are ethical and have minimum impact on the animals natural way of life. Our local charity project in Thailand is the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, where elephants that have been mistreated or used for riding around Thailand come for rehabilitation. Here you observe the elephants and customers are able to donate to the charity through us before they travel.

In Khao Sok our accommodation is a community run lodge built with help of our local partners in Thailand who share the same values of protecting the environment.
We encourage train travel where possible and on this trip you'll take an overnight train rather than a plane to reduce the carbon footprint of travel. We also provide a carbon offset option for our clients when they book their trip.
Our customers receive a 'Responsible Traveller' infographic before they go with tips on how they can have minimum impact on the environment.
Our local office in Thailand also takes protecting the environment very seriously and has put many measures in place to be responsible in the way that they operate. A while ago they installed a water purifier into their office instead of buying big bottles of water and this now saves 10,000 litres of drinking water a year, as well as reducing the plastic wastage. They also now recycle all of their waste, they offset all of their flight emissions for staff travel, use recyclable batteries, use environmentally friendly printing paper and eco-labelled cleaning products.

We try and use small family-run accommodation wherever possible during this trip as opposed to using big chain hotels. We also offer regular chances to stop at small shops, stands and stalls during this itinerary where you can buy snacks and drinks from the locals. This happens on the way to and from Khao Sok and also during our River Kwai trip. During this itinerary we use guides employed from the local area, helping to provide jobs in all of the areas that we visit. We also use minibus transfers for most of our transport in this itinerary and this also secures jobs for many drivers.

Our local partners have their Travelife accreditation and means that all of their employees are protected by the employment laws that they have in place. This includes schemes for maternity leave and they also provide medical insurance for employees. They also have rigorous checks to make sure there is no forced labour or child labour which happens in any of the destinations that we visit during this itineraryclient has any specific questions.

We do not promote elephant riding and only support elephant sanctuaries that we know and trust.

Our local charity project is the Elephant Nature Park which is included in our family itinerary that clients will visit and can donate to before they go as well.

The accommodation is Khao Sok National park is run by the local community, providing jobs for locals in the area. Your family can interact with the staff and villagers
