Too many memorable moments to pick one; junk in Bai Tu Long Bay, caves in Phong Nha, beautiful Hoi An, and vintage Vespas in HCMC all stand out as
highlights.

Travel light! Pack your mosquito repellent and use it. Try everything and be ready to be wowed.

Benefited the local economy - we bought as much as possible from small local traders.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

During any visit to Vietnam, you and your family will be on a tour designed to reduce impact on the surrounding environment. In Northern Vietnam, for example, we will take you to explore the stunning region of Bai Tu Long Bay – equally as beautiful as its famous neighbour Halong Bay but which receives far few visitors - minimising the wear and tear of human activity across the UNESCO World Heritage site.

We also do our best to limit any carbon footprint throughout each journey, by preferring to make use of the amazing local railway rather than domestic flights to travel along the coast from Hanoi to Hue, and on to Hoi An. We can also arrange bicycle rental in Hoi An and included is a fantastic walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
On top of this, we also provide each of our customers with a 'How to be a Responsible Traveller' document before they travel. This includes advice and tips on how to buy locally, protect wildlife, and how to make a genuine difference to the country they’re visiting.

Our responsible travel journey starts at home, from our Brighton based paperless office, where we reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever possible. Each and every day a healthy lunch is provided to our staff and any leftovers and food waste are composted. We’re committed to sustainable travel and are proud to have received the thumbs up from Travelife by achieving their Better Places Partner criteria.

People

By travelling on this itinerary, you will be making a huge difference to local families, communities, and independent businesses throughout your journey.

In the countryside of Hue, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the everyday life of rural Vietnam as you join a local farmer and his family to lend a hand in the rice fields, have a go at traditional fishing techniques, and help prepare lunch from the freshly-grown ingredients picked from the neighbouring fields. Not only will you leave with a greater understanding of village life and its cultural traditions, but by heading out of town you are helping to bring much-welcomed custom to far less visited regions.

You’ll also help support our local project in Hoi An, a not-for-profit organisation that helps disadvantaged Vietnamese people and their families become self-sufficient through vocational training and offers support to create a better life for themselves. You will take part in a traditional painting and lantern making class run by a previous member of the foundation, who now owns his own art gallery in the city.

Our local offices also ensure all employees are well treated and that they exceed all minimum requirements for salary, work hours and rest days. This ensures that everyone directly involved in your trip receives all of these benefits and is paid and treated fairly. All our guides are born and raised in Vietnam, with the majority guiding travellers around the town or village they have grown up in all their life.

As well as this we also use only small-scale and locally owned accommodation every step of the way, which not only provides you with a truly authentic experience but makes sure that the revenue from this tourism goes to the ones who need it the most.

Before you travel, you’ll also receive an incredibly useful and detailed written guide that explains the local customs and cultures of Vietnam and how to ensure dignity, awareness, and mutual respect are maintained throughout your time in country. This includes information about how to dress appropriately, understanding the way of daily life, and useful phrases so that you can travel in a truly meaningful way.
