Hiking and culinary holiday in Montenegro
Description of Hiking and culinary holiday in Montenegro
No matter where you’re hiking in Montenegro it’s always a good idea to leave some space in your back pack, and your waist band, for the journey ahead.
Stopping off at the local goat farm and bee keepers’ cottages is just the start of the culinary kaleidoscope that lies in store with dairy farmers, dolloping out the kacamak, and freshly caught fish suppers, beside Skadar Lake, bound to linger longer than that tan takes to fade.
Organic, seasonal and the freshest of fresh produce is what a culinary holiday in Montenegro is all about with hearty breakfasts, mountain tea and natural spring water the perfect accompaniment to a good day’s hike.
Montenegrins, by nature, are generous and hospitable souls, and spending time with local folk, in their own homes, is the best way to taste the lovingly created home cooked dishes that have been served to sons, daughters, grandmothers and grandfathers, down through the generations.
Tailor a hiking holiday to include as many peaks and pastures as you wish but one thing is for sure, listen to your guide when it comes to what to eat, and where, as from freshly foraged mushrooms to moonshine fruit brandy, sometimes a little local knowledge really does go a really long way.
