PlanetMadagascar as it stands today is not a destination suited for all travelers. We ensure that clients who have requested travel to Madagascar are aware that as an 'ecotourist' they need to be willing to overlook the rough edges of travel while in Madagascar. This destination is a hidden gem, one worth preserving and protecting.
We advise our customers about the rainforest, sea life and indigenous animals of Madagascar and how to ensure these remain protected and we pay all the required park fees that contributes to the conservation of the parks and surrounding areas. We use skilled knowledgeable and skilled guides to lead our clients through the forests and to make sure they follow routes that will not disturb the wildlife and flora and fauna around them.
We as a company strive to operate as a paperless as much as possible, and recycle wherever facilities are available. We use toxic-free fair trade products whenever we can. As mentioned before, we have skilled guides with our customers and they ensure that all waste is taken care of properly as well as any items that could be reused on their trip or to the local community.
Our clients’ requirements are of the outmost importance to us at all times, as we know that our growth and success depend on their continued support. Having travelled extensively ourselves and witnessed first-hand how tourism can have either positive or negative effects on local communities; we have pledged to always endeavor to leave a positive mark on all places we visit and send clients. We always encourage our clients to visit local markets and meet the local people which gives them a good insight into how the locals live and how they are impacting them by visiting their country.
On the road: Many of the resorts and operators we work with offer our clients free drinking water refills to help minimise wastage of plastic bottles through out the trips. Clients are also asked if they want items laundered before simply washing towels and linens unnecessarily, to conserve water. We use vehicles that will have as low an impact on the environment of the country they are in as well as keeping into account our clients safety on some of the more trickier roads to travel.
The lodge we stay at is focused on responsible travel, 75% of the staff are from the local community and sources products and produce from local suppliers wherever possible.
PeopleThis tour has been designed to both operate in a way that minimises our impact on the environment that we visit and to maximise the benefit that our clients can have on the host community. Our customers interact with locals and receive a truly local experience with the expertise of our knowledgeable local guides. We travel in small groups only to ensure that we do not disrupt local communities.
We endeavour to follow responsible guidelines, as with all trips, for example the group goes to a local craft market to purchase items directly from the local artisans on this trip.
We use local guides and drivers and small locally operated accommodation to ensure that our travel will help to promote the local community. We also take customers to small locally run restaurants and shops to support the community as much as possible.
