Responsible tourism: Punjab heritage tour in India

Environment

Since this project is very dear to us we try to use as much as natural resources ,freshly grown organic vegetables in the local food prepared in the farm stays.
We use the vehicles throughout the tour that are certified for pollution check and align to all government norms for reducing emissions and minimising pollution like in our toyota innova vehicles.Whenever possible for short trips etc for sightseeings we are making use of the old means of transport bullock carts, rickshaws or a cycle ride.Like in Amritsar the area near the Golden temple in Amritsar, complex we shall walk or use the battery operated non emitting small carts.Once we have reached the destinations it shall be our endervour to walk or use rickshaws or autos which work on CNG (which do not pollute).
Properties that we use match with our environmental standard like Gary Farms in Patiala is made in a way that is a farm water is used from tubewells and food consumed is organic. To use less of water we have timings for water for normal use and we can water our plants only at a certain time ie it is all in harmony when plants are watered we donot use it for human purposes .generally we store water in cans and make minimum use of it.

Community

We as a policy are promoting the unexplored plethora of places in Punjab such as to provide employment and sustain income for a few .As in each of the places mentionned we using places specifically which are essential part of a normal life plus if we use them we are indirectly helping the place to sustain on its own and give employment.Like the heritage villa in Jalandhar its a property where we have set up a traditional handicraft phulkari unit this is dying and we wish to preserve this too.All material thread and a place to sit and make is provided by us and on every piece they make we give them a stipulated amount. And this also helps women to earn some extra money for their living and in some cases they are the only earning member.Incase some lady as an issue of time she can take her work home or get her small kids along we also keep a small area where kids can play while theirs mothers earn something extra.
We would love to showcase these products to our friends from different countries and contribute something to their living too.

Apart from Phulkari we are promoting and trying to preserve the jutti making and small wooden gift items and sustaining the local and humble artisans of the state.

We believe in women empowerment so helping them in this form is special to us giving them the a surrounding to work and enjoy too.
We have chosen this destination because we wish to do our bit and employ as many local people we can at each place this presently is not being done,i.e promoting tourism here ,thats the change we are bringing out since the people of this area are very friendly and could do with more jobs and income.
