Responsible tourism: Thailand culinary tour

We are environmentally conscious and aware of its footprint. We put effort into educating our travellers to be aware of their impact on the ecosystems and to act responsibly.
On this tour, our clients will have the opportunity to visit local community just by the historical park Si Satchanalai. In this village, elephants end up after getting rescued from abusive working/living conditions. People will hear the stories of the elephants and how their fate brought them to this village. This community in order to preserve this reserve sells handcrafted wooden and silk products and we advise our clients to support them by buying some of the products.

Our correspondence and promotion are carried out via the Internet and email, minimising the amount of paper we use. All hotels on our culinary tour have an environmental responsibility program in place and employ local people. Hotels are all owned by locals. For example Wishing Tree Resort in Hug Hang in the aim to support local heritage has 47 rooms that are characterized by the use of simple folk materials such as fabrics and weaving machines produced by locals. In Legendha resort where our guests will stay on the 7th day of their tour fully encourages responsible tourism. In other words, they strive to conserve the environment and enhance the wellbeing of local people including their culture and tradition. They create the sustainability concept to all the locals people in the surrounding villages. We advise our travellers to take care of nature, control water usage whenever they can, and pick up all the litter that they see. Wherever we can we go by foot in order to minimise pollution from cars and minibuses. We are always travelling in small group up to 12 persons and this enables us to stay in locally owned, small accommodation, encouraging unique connections with local people.

Our tours are designed to show and preserve local culture and traditions.
This tour gives you real chance to dive into Thailand everyday life. We are taking our customers to visit most rural places, try domestic food and learn how to prepare traditional Thailand`s recipes.
All of our guides, drivers and staff are local people. We also use local transport wherever possible, from trains, buses, taxis, bicycles to the local metro.

On our Thailand food trails we encourage our tourist to get familiar with local food and cuisine. We visit a local villages markets to see, taste and purchase local ingredients, cooking classes. All Chefs on our cooking classes are locals, teaching us about culinary tradition and customs in Thailand. For example, at Khon Kaen we will have Issan-style cooking class held in a garden. People will experience and learn the techniques how local food is cooked and what distinguishes the north eastern kitchen from the rest of Thailand.
In the aim to support the local economy we only eat in local restaurants.

Respect to the local people, their cultures, the economy and the environment should be the first rule that travellers follow. On the tour, we will visit a local blacksmith at his workshop where some of the most beautiful swords (Dab) and knives are made by hand. We encourage our tourists to buy products in the aim to support local economy.

Our goal is not only to help the local community but also to educate our customers to act in a socially responsible way. We will attempt to give an insight and understanding of the host culture and community to our clients so that they can gain more from their visit. All our travellers who book through our company receive information on Thailand prior to their trip, to understand and respect the culture and environment of the host destination. We are doing our best to transfer our knowledge to others so we could together act responsibly in preserving the planet.
