Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Siberia adventure holiday in Russia

Environment

Putorana Plateau is one of the most unexplored lands of the word due to some difficulties to reach this place and short season for travelling. This area is very wild and not touched by any human influence. Our aim to protect this area and help in the protection and exploring.

To reach the place we use an official helicopter company and local pilots can have guaranteed job during the season. We also always help in delivering any goods and necessary things to local people who stay at Putorana Plateau. There are very few people live there all year around. There are not any regular flight there. Each flight is a great opportunity for locals to bring something to that area.

To travel in this area is impossible without catamarans because there are no any roads for hundreds of kilometers. Only rivers. We do not use engine with petrol during our trips. Only for emergencies. The nature is so untouched in that area that we even speak with each other very quietly not to disturb any animals, fishes or birds.

We bring food there buying from local citizens of the town and villages. Our purchases is the only way to get any money during the season. Other time they get small money from the state.

During our trips nature does not suffer. We do not leave any non biological waste during travelling on ground and water paths and after camps.

We respect the wildlife and, when in remote locations, we practice fishing for the only need of the day.

Our basic rules:

• We collaborate with the local organizations as National Parks in order to have the maximum synergy in term of knowledge of local rules to respect the nature
• We give priority to any form of traveling that reduce to minimum the use of cars, trucks and any other gasoline based form of transport
• We prefer the use of accommodations that respect nature and have a responsible policy of management of waste
• We respect the wildlife and, when necessary in remote locations, we practice fishing for the only need of the day
• We do not leave any non biological waste during travelling on ground and water paths and after camps

Community

This area as large as the UK is totally not inhabited. The community of this area of the world is reduced to the people helping us in the locations where we start the trip and where we arrive.

We collaborate with the local organisations in order to get know our travellers about the culture and the habits of local populations. We inform about local initiatives in order to promote them to our travellers during their staying.

All travellers are pre-informed about the social and political situation of the destination: At arrival we make a brief with our guests informing about how we collaborate with the local population.
At the same time we inform how we move into their territory and live with them giving all suggestions on how to best integrate with their traditions and cultures.

We promote the scientific approach for the understanding of the environment and the population in full contact with it. We promote the collaboration between our guests and the local expert of the territory to identify specific aspects as the relationship with the nature and the integration with foreigner visitors.

Our local guides explain how the community are benefited by the developing of the local projects explaining how they are organised and how we monitor them.
