During this trip our dear guests will have the opportunity to visit some of the major natural and cultural highlights of the northern part of Greece. This is a guided ecotour. National Parks, natural reserves, archaeological sites, places with great natural, geological, cultural and historical value. Our guides will share their wide knowledge on the areas you visit and their ecological importance.The gorge of Enipeas, in the National Park of Olympus Mountain, which is declared a national park for the preservation of the natural environment, the flora, fauna and natural landscapes, as well as of its cultural and other values. Olympus is internationally known for its important ecological characteristics and incomparable natural beauty as well as for its strong relationship with ancient Greek mythology. The importance of the National Park has been recognized not only in Greece and Europe but all over the world. In 1981 UNESCO declared Olympus a “Biosphere Reserve”. The EU has included Olympus in the list of “The Most Important Bird areas of the Europe”.
Vikos Gorge, is included in the national park Vikos - Aoos. The gorge of Vikos, with a length of 20km, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the deepest canyon in the world, in proportion to its width. The main part of the gorge stretches between the villages Vikos and Monodendri, and has a depth of about 1000m.
The Meteors (Mereora) is an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site and a World Natural Heritage Site too. On the enormous monoliths, monks were settled from the 11th century, 24 of the “floating” monasteries were built at the time of the great revival of the eremitic ideal in the 15th century. Churches decorated with exemplary mural paintings and breathtaking panoramic view of the plain of Thessaly and the mountains of Pindos Range.
This tour is exclusively for small groups, up to 8 persons and it is performed with a new low emissions minivan.
No single-use recipients are used in our picnics; fabric picnic tablecloth instead of a paper or a plastic one, washable dishes and cutlets. Our guests are advised to have their own picnic set.
In most areas the water is drinkable and our guests can fill their bottles with tap water. We avoid the use of plastic water bottles.
We encourage our guests to help us clean at least the spot we choose every time for our pick-nick pose. We collect any possible garbage and carried them to the nearest operating bucket.
Our company promotes ecotourism and sustainable adventure holidays, whilst providing you a unique travel experience. We guide you to the beautiful nature and civilization of the less known part of Greece, in an adventure out of the ordinary.
People
We work with local people. Our guides are locals, we select small, mainly family-run accommodations and taverns, and we shop for our picnics from small local stores.For the meals we choose local specialties and traditional products so that the travelers can get familiar with local cuisine. We suggest our guests to buy local products and gifts.
We ask our guests to respect the culture and customs of each destination and do everything possible not to disturb the local activities. As this is a trip for really small groups the negative impact is practically zero.
