Description of Cycle the Congo Nile trail, Rwanda

This six day cycle ride following the Congo Nile Trail in Rwanda takes you along the banks of Lake Kivu before finally completing in Kamembe, relatively close to the Nyungwe rainforest.

Daily distances are between 35km and 55km with some steep elevations and rapid descents providing solid challenges against a backdrop of breath taking scenery. Overnight guesthouses provide a welcome break as well as many memorable moments to enjoy out of the saddle.

Evenly spread undulating hillsides and plenty of tarmac stretches make this 227km section of the Congo Nile Trail an absolute pleasure for cyclists and easily manageable over five days. Note: if you can't spare five days then you can split the trail into longer segments although, we do recommend taking your time to stop and stare.

Not only is this a great way to keep fit and healthy but you'll also discover a truly unique introduction to Rwanda with cultural encounters and off the beaten track experiences adding to the joy of cycling in East Africa.
