Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

We are a Nepali company and travel through this company makes a direct impact in the economy of Nepal. We also try to maximise our contribution to the local economy by hiring local guides and porters for these trips and staying in smaller lodges to spread the income.

The company does not vertically integrate and sub-contracts all support activities like transportation, lodging etc. so that the money gets spread in the economy. It conserves on paper minimising paperwork in the office and by giving out electronic brochures. When required, brochures are printed on both sides of the paper and are in a folder format so that only relevant inserts need be given.

We have also put in place a development support system whereby 10% of its profits go to charities like the Joy Foundation Nepal who conduct free cataract eye camps in rural areas of Nepal and Antardristi Nepal, which is developing a fund to start a incest and rape care centre for minors. 10% of the company's profits also goes directly into employee benefits.

In the field, guides, porters and clients are all oriented in responsible travel. A zero litter policy is in place so that it minimises wastage in the region. We also only take out very small groups with a maximum of twelve participants per group. All trips also focus on culture.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

This is hard to say because the trekking was beautiful. The experience of walking through these villages high up in the mountains where life revolves around nature and agriculture was incredible. I also really appreciated the way tour companyís staff went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, comfortable, and learn about Nepali life. When the employees took me out for coffee and breakfast on 2 separate occasions stood out in my mind. They went above and beyond!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Since each tour is customized, please work with the tour company to arrange the best plan for you. The staff really communicates and makes your trip exactly how you want it.

I would also recommend spending sometime in the operatorís office. It's a friendly and comfortable place. They also offer cooking classes and other short tours around Kathmandu.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, I was given advice on how to mindful during my treks. I also felt like my trekking guide was aware of this too. I especially liked that the tour operator is passionate about education. They teach their customers about Nepali culture and responsible tourism within Nepal. They also told me that they train all their employees from office staff to porters on their initiatives. I believe they have a new project to train their staff on human trafficking awareness/avoidance.

Each employee seemed to be passionate about the company and dedicated to responsible tourism in Nepal. That says a lot about an organization.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This was an excellent vacation! I highly recommend this company

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Doing the final walk into Annapurna Base camp in the dark to see the mountains at dusk and then sunrise.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Make sure you arrange an extra day in Pokhara to chill out after the trek - we can highly recommend the Hotel Barahi.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

By utilising a Kathmandu based trekking company then I felt that we brought more income directly into the country. We tried to reduce our impact onto the environment by simple matters such as not buying bottled water but treating it locally and using hot showers when they were solar heated.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Very enjoyable and great to interact with the Nepalese people again - so friendly.
