Travel guides

Australia
Your typical city dwelling Australian likes nothing better than an early morning run or bracing surf to kick start them into life; well that followed ...
Wildlife
I am a grown man, and have travelled all over Africa. But the first time I saw a tiger in the wilds of India, I cried.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

Recognised as a Green Travel Leader, Advanced Eco-Accredited Operator and Climate Change Innovator by Eco-Tourism Australia, now we are going even further, taking a regenerative approach to all our business operations to use our tourism business as a force for good to help tackle the current global crises.

Our mission is "conservation through exploration: protecting our planet by inspiring travellers, supporting local communities and boldly influencing the entire travel industry".

Our Director, Hassie, is recognised by Tourism Australia as a Sustainability Hero. From 2008 to 2021, he planted 1.2 hectares of native vegetation on his then property on the Eyre Peninsula.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

We partner with many organisations across our regions, such as the Department for Environment & Water (DEW), with our passengers doing koala counts at Mikkira Station as a citizen science project. As well as Parks South Australia for beach clean-ups and Eyre Native Seeds for tree planting.

Example of initiatives on our adventure tours;
• All adventure tours have a conservation volunteering activity, i.e., beach clean-ups, tree planting or helping at a wildlife rescue organisation.
• We recycle on tour.
• We organise and provide transport for community clean-ups.
• We educate passengers through our communications on and off tour.
• We purchase locally in the regions we are travelling.

Passengers on this tour will visit various conservation and national parks, including world heritage-listed Uluru-Katja Tjuta National Park in the Red Centre.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Uluru is the spiritual heart of Australia and is one of the best places to visit to understand and appreciate the world’s oldest living culture. On this tour, you’ll connect with Traditional Owners and hear why Uluru is so special to Aboriginal people. Soak up cultural knowledge about bush tucker, bush medicine, dot painting symbols, local crafts and more during authentic Indigenous experiences.

We engage and share knowledge with our travellers in many ways, both on our tours and pre and post-the core experience. We continuously share the message of regenerative tourism and educate stakeholders, hoping to influence them about sustainable lifestyle choices.

Our experienced Storyteller Guides are passionate people who share their expert knowledge of the flora, fauna, history, culture and interesting facts of the regions we travel to, and this is no exception for the Red Centre.

Our Guides hold Eco-Tourism Australia Respecting Our Culture Certification, and we abide by and respect the laws of the local Anangu people.

On this tour specifically;
* We use a number of First Nations suppliers.
* We only work with suppliers and venues that have regenerative principles like ours.
* We purchase food for the tour in the region and always give preference to local fresh produce from farmgates and small local businesses.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Before people come on this tour, we share the media guidelines for capturing and sharing images and video content of Uluru and Katja Tjuta and ensure whilst on tour, our passengers respect the regulations of the Anangu people.
