Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Puglia to Albania cultural tour, small group

Environment

As a young tour operator, we are passionate and enthusiastic about our regions, organizing journeys that benefit both local communities as well as our guests. Through this travel you will discover Apulia (Puglia) region and Albania through their traditions and cultures: Our main purpose is to propagate a sustainable Tourism, as a possibility of sociality, exchange and economy improvement.

Even if every day you enjoy new places, the driven distances are reduced to the essential, making possible a variety of landscapes and experiences by a low hydrocarbon impact.

All meals are based on seasonal local food for the transport minimizing and the preservation of traditional farm and biodiversity.
Furthermore the tour leader recommends at any purchase to avoid single-use-plastic-bag and in general single-use-packaging.

In our office: We started from our working place by lowering resources consumption, in fact we just use materials with longer life; we reduce as much as possible wastes and use the corresponding differentiated collection.

Community

This travel is organized in cooperation with an Albanian tour operator to be sure of involving local communities also in Albania for pleasant interactions between guests and local people as a path for intellectual enrichment in both directions.

We also encourage new perspectives to the natural and artistic heritage of South Italy and Albania, as a new way of enjoying unknown places, monuments and sites.

During last decades the tourist flow in Puglia increased and today it is difficult for travelers, especially for foreigners, to discern touristy places from shops and restaurants favorite by locals, as we do. Moreover, by escaping mass tourism places, we contribute to avoid the visitors concentration that represent actually a serious problem in some part of Italy.

The family run accommodation on the country side ensures also the proximity to the land and its slower rhythm; in general we only collaborate with local companies and local guides to guarantee a sustainable further use of tourist incomes.

This tour was a most interesting and enjoyable holiday. The most memorable part of the holiday was the quality of our Italian and Albanian guides. Both men
were excellent in making sure we enjoyed fantastic food and came away with an understanding of the history and culture of the areas as well as contemporary issues, They were also very willing to be flexible with the itinerary and to answer our questions.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

We found it useful to have done some pre reading, particularly about the history of Albania, to provide a context for what we saw.

Piero, our guide in Puglia is very committed to supporting local conservation in the area and it was great to meet his colleagues and see how passionate they
are about responsible tourism with a reduced environmental impact.

This was a great holiday where we came away having seen interesting places, learnt a lot and been very well fed.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I really enjoyed this trip to places I had never been before. Each part of the trip was well planned with a variety of things to see and do. Our guides, Luigi Piero
in Puglia and Geri in Albania were outstanding. They were knowledgable, passionate about the areas they were taking us to, and very considerate. They both went out of their way to be helpful to us and were very good company.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes - both areas we visited are not particularly wealthy and it was good to feel we were contributing to the local economy. Our guide in Puglia, Peiro Luigi was
very keen about preserving the environment.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent.
