As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Before travelling with us all our travellers are given detailed pre-departure information which includes information on travelling responsibly. In terms of the environment this includes advice on measures our travellers can take pre, during and post travel. Waste disposal and water conservation are key issues on a Kilimanjaro climb. We remind travellers to only take what they absolutely need with them up the mountain-to remove any unnecessary packaging before they leave home and to take a reusable water bottle for the climb. During the climb the need to conserve water is also highlighted. Our Guide/Porter team on the mountain ensure that all waste is disposed of appropriately which generally means transporting it all back down the mountain.
The Impacts of this Trip
For this trip we work in partnership with a Tanzanian operator. Our operator was carefully selected due to their commitment to Responsible Travel and their professionalism. Our operator follows the guidelines set by the Mount Kilimanjaro Porters and Guides Association, paying porters and guides a wage in line with their recommendations; ensuring that the amount of luggage/equipment they carry is limited; that there are adequate porter/ client ratios and that porters and guides are well equipped and adequately fed and accommodated during the climb. Porters and guides all come from the communities surrounding the mountain.
Our Tanzanian operator is based in Arusha in Tanzania. They have a commitment not only to their staff-ensuring that they receive a fair wage and that their families also benefit from their work but they are also committed to the local community near to their office-they recently supported the construction of a local school.
Before travelling on any of our trips clients receive comprehensive pre departure information which includes information on travelling responsibly. This includes advice on respecting local communities and traditions; bargaining; supporting local communities and economies by shopping locally and buying crafts directly from local artisans and co-operatives.
