Description of Lithuania wildlife and bird watching holiday

An essential Lithuania tour for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts, this trip begins in the Vente Cape headland, where many birds pause during their migrations. Over the next nine days, as you venture from west to east, there will be opportunities to spot up to 190 species across some of the top birding locations in Lithuania.

Black-throated Diver, Black Stork, Whooper Swan, Montagu’s Harrier and White-tailed Eagle all frequent these areas, as do some of Europe’s rarest birds, including Great Snipe, Citrine Wagtail and Greater-spotted Eagle. You’ll be accompanied throughout the trip by an expert birding guide, enabling you to find the perfect viewing positions.

From the Nemunas Delta Regional Park you’ll travel by boat across the picturesque Curonian Lagoon, then spending several days in the unique landscape of the Curonian Spit National Park with its sand dunes and populations of coastal seabirds.

You’ll then progress to East Lithuania, a true paradise for birdwatchers, especially among the swamps, lakes and meadows of the Western Taiga Forests. Other stops where you can tick off long-awaited birds include Grazute Regional Park, famed for its diverse landscapes and biodiversity, and the Birveta fish ponds in Ignalina.

This Lithuania bird-watching tour will prove immensely satisfying for birders of all experience-levels, but it will also immerse you in wild, beautiful landscapes and ancient communities that create superb backdrops for your photography.

Lithuania is proud of its water - it actually tastes very good. We drink our tap water every day and we always recommend it to our travelers. That’s why we recommend our guests use reusable water bottles instead of buying water in plastic bottles.

Wildlife. Bird watching tours give a rare opportunity to take a look into the pure nature’s life. Our main goal is to respect natural environment and leave everything exactly as we found it. Since the diversity of birds is really rich, we do our best to join the nature conservation programs that ensures effective protection.

We work with small groups for several reasons. This is the best way to ensure a maximum interaction between guide and a tourist. We strongly believe, that the success of every tour is caused by close and personal relation between guide and a tourist. Also, this way we can be sure to minimize the negative impact on environment.

We operate tours in countries which are not overcome with tourists and within those countries, we take our guests away from the cities and into the rural communities and natural environments which most visitors do not get to.

We are working with the local guides, as we strongly believe that locals are the best choice. The main guide for this is tour is a local professional guide Marius Karlonas. He is a member of Lithuanian Ornithological Society. Because of his knowledge Marius is also one of the best knowing bird watching guides in all the country. The Lithuanian Ornithological Society combines enthusiasm, experience and knowledge with a way to channel everyone’s willingness to save birds’ and all nature’s conservation into action.

Since the tours are provided in very specific locations, we collaborate with locals and offer our tourists to stay at homesteads instead of big hotels. This way our guests can avoid rush and feel the real nature’s life. The unique experience begins every morning with the wake up. Even more, this is a great opportunity to meet locals and get to know them (their everyday life, crafts and traditions) better.
