This Antarctica cruise which follows in Shackleton’s wake, the polar explorer who famously rescued his crew after their ship got trapped in ice after a mammoth operation in 1917. Your own mammoth journey starts in Ushuaia where you have a day to enjoy the southernmost city in the world, before boarding the Ocean Atlantic which sleeps maximum 195 passengers. The Ocean Atlantic is an ice class expedition ship which was refurbished recently and has a variety of inside and outside cabins, all ensuite and in different sizes from single to suites. There is plenty of observation room on deck, lounges, lecture halls as well as a jacuzzi, sauna and swimming pool. This trip is all about the outdoors, however, and after traversing Drake Crossing you enter the world of the White Continent with its spectacular glaciers, mountains and islets as well as a plethora of wildlife.
Conditions depending, we hope to land on Elephant Island where Shackleton’s crew spent months waiting for their captain to return with a rescue team. We then head to South Georgia Island where we spend a few days, making landings to visit Shackleton’s grave but also take in the island’s myriad wildlife including king penguins and enormous barking elephant seals. Just as with the other stops on this expedition, there is so much pristine wilderness to enjoy here.
We then head north to the Falkland Islands where we spend several days exploring both East and West Islands famous for their seals, whales, penguin colonies and albatrosses, as well as many other birds. Our Antarctic odyssey ends in Patagonia’s Puerto Madryn, which is gateway to Península Valdés and so you may want to extend your trip to enjoy time in this spectacular nature reserve.

Carbon reduction
Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.
Environment
Embarking on this trip we have been very careful in selecting our vessel. We have specifically chosen a smaller ship that carries less people, creating far less waste. Waste management is appropriately infiltrated as all waste is disposed of on shore and not in the ocean or on/near icecaps.
The smaller ship also creates lesser impact when completing on shore landings and minimising disturbance of wildlife. We are fully compliant with all rules and codes of conduct in association with a membership of IAATO.
Our pre-departure packages are sent electronically in order to familiarise individuals about the fragile environment that Antarctica is and sustainability initiatives such as proper waste management and reduction as well as how to appropriately engage with the environment around you to ultimately, reduce negative impact.
As an office space we are striving towards a paperless office and implementing more use of 100% green energy. We use energy saving bulbs in our work centres and encourage our workplace to reduce their contribution to emissions by riding bikes, walking or catching public transport to and from work.
Community
This trip begins in Ushuaia where you will have time to sample local food and shop at local boutiques which we encourage individuals to take part in for experience and in supporting of the local community. We also encourage people to explore Stanley located on The Falkland Islands and even spend a couple extra days in Valdes Peninsula upon disembarkment.
We currently work with three different charities, giving us a broad spectrum and diversifying where our money goes. We work with Project Peru in the UK who run an orphanage in Zapallal in the shanty town outskirts of Lima, ANIA in Peru which is a high profile Peruvian NGO working with children and helps to teach them about their local environment and how to manage it affectively.
We also corroborate with foundations in Australia whom work on several development projects in Latin America and around the world. We help these charities by fundraising treks, donations as a company. through our clients and through many of our customers who volunteer their time and expertise. These charities are close to our core of supporting the environment and children in need.
