Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

We understand that travel and tourism can both benefit as well as harm the environment, the economy, the social structure, culture and communities in any country. As a company we love Latin America and strive to protect the rural and urban landscapes which we take you to visit. We work with local operators which have a proven record in training guides to set a good example in their respect for their surroundings and pass on advice and encouragement to visitors on how to preserve the fragile environment in simple ways, such as by refilling a water bottle, disposing of rubbish responsibly, not disturbing local communities or wildlife and not touching relics of the mission sites. We’ve also partnered with Water to Go UK in hope to reduce waste by offering clients a 50% discount on filtered water bottles.
During this tour you visit certain natural parks, including the salt lakes and cactus forests of the Chaco, the rainforest close to Iguazú and the Iguazú Falls. You explore these areas on foot and have the opportunity to kayak in the rainforest. Not only are these the best ways to see these regions, it also reduces carbon emissions. Local guides will point out all the places of interest as well as wildlife, and help you to respect signage, and to follow instructions regarding treating the flora and fauna with respect.
On this tour we prefer smaller hotels with some local character, whether boutique, one of a local chain or independent. In addition, we give preference to hotels and lodges which have a verifiable commitment to eco-friendly practices. In Iguazú for example, you stay at Yacutinga Lodge, an eco-lodge constructed from local materials like stone and hardwood gathered from naturally fallen trees. The result is an attractive and rustic design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding jungle.

We pride ourselves on delivering our clients truly authentic and unforgettable experiences in Latin America which connect travellers with the people whose country they visit. At Filadelfia’s Mennonite museum for example you will be accompanied by one of the Mennonite curators, which provides you with a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the local community. You can also visit the handicrafts co-operative on the plaza in Santa Maria de Fe. This co-operative is run by the women of the town. You have the opportunity to interact with the local community, as well as purchasing high-quality products, and thus supporting the local economy and promoting the local culture.
Moreover, our expert guides work hard to create good relationships between visitors and the local community by providing advice when and where needed. They will for example encourage you to buy arts and crafts from local markets, explain the importance of giving gifts responsibly and the best ways to do this, as well as acting in a respectful way while taking photographs.
Not only will you visit museums and mission sites to gain in-depth knowledge about the history and culture of the missions, you also stay at a few unique properties to enhance the experience even more. In Asuncion for example, you stay at the first class La Misión Hotel which features design touches from the Jesuit Reductions. Inside murals by a renowned Paraguayan artist depict daily life in Jesuit times, while arts and crafts from nearby towns can be found everywhere.
