Puerto Varas, 'City of Roses' | Quintupeu and Cahuelmo fjords | Dramatic fjord kayaking | Natural hot springs | Hike around Cahuelmó | Forests and islands | No previous sea kayaking necessaryDescription of Sea kayaking in Patagonia, Chile
This sea kayak trip offers an expertly guided mix of adventure and challenge in the remote and beautiful setting of Chile's Northern Patagonian Fjords of Quintupeu and Cahuelmo – an island-strewn spot where the Andes plunge into the sea, complemented by verdant forests laced with hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, natural hot springs and remote historic settlements. After exploring your starting point in the pretty lakeside 'City of Roses', Puerto Varas, your kayaking adventures begin in Quintupeo fjord, paddling between towering granite cliffs and waterfalls to your overnight camp site at the fjord end.
Heading onto the Cahuelmó Fiord, nose your kayak inland among narrow valleys carved into mountains rising from the sea. Look out for seals as you cut through the water to reach your campsite by natural hot springs where you can have a sunset soak to ease any aches.
The next day lets you stretch your legs with a hike around Cahuelmó, before returning to the water to paddle Pichanco, where a van begins your journey back to civilisation – with a headful of unforgettable memories.

Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

The Impacts of this Trip
When out on tour we encourage learning about Chile, the local culture of the teams we work with and the areas we pass through. Our guides hold informal talks with groups to inform about and discuss with them all aspects of local life. This helps understanding of the area and appreciation of the people who live there. We will meet quite a number of local people.
We are also now supporting the UK registered chairty Amantani. As this charity is very much in keeping with our ethos of small scale, targetted help which is educational & sustainabale. HuchuyYachaq is the other main Peruvian charity we support by paying a for a full time teacher. A % of all our income goes to support those projects.
