Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Preserving and protecting the unique wildlife and environment of the Galapagos Islands is very important to us. Our tours are carefully co-ordinated with the local authorities to minimise the environmental impact of visitors to the Islands. On this tour you will visit one uninhabited island in a small boat. Visiting times are limited and a strict schedule is adhered to so that the maximum number of people on any one island does not exceed the recommended number.Guests will be encouraged to use re-fillable water bottles and to avoid single-use plastics while on the islands. Upon arrival all of our travellers are given a document with advice for sustainable ways to travel around Ecuador without damaging its ecosystem, people and culture. Extra care is taken with tours that visit the more sensitive places in Ecuador, such as the ecologically sensitive Galapagos Islands, the Amazon Rainforest, National Parks and other protected areas, as well as the socially sensitive indigenous communities.
People
Our aim and commitment is to give travellers the opportunity to discover a country through a local’s eyes. We believe that using local guides makes for a richer travel experience and also supports fair wages. You will stay in restored hotels or with local families and eat locally sourced food to ensure money is being put directly into the local communities.
The small tour operator you will travel with in Ecuador is owned and run by a local family who take pride in employing local people and in giving back to the wider community.
A donation to a day centre project in Quito is made on behalf of every person who travels with us. The project offers support to around 100 children from disadvantaged family backgrounds who can access social services, education and medical services there, and most importantly be in a safe, caring and stimulating environment. Pre-arranged visits with your guide are welcome as part of your tour in Quito, and you can also increase the donation made should you wish.
