Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

All of the tour leaders, drivers, local agent and hotels we use to facilitate this holiday are locally owned. The hotels used on this trip all promote the conservation of water by reusing towels and the Dad hotel we stay in in Yazd has solar panels on the roof which powers the roof top restaurant.

We stop at road side farm stalls to buy fruit like watermelon and share among the group. These stops enable us to give money directly to the farm and provide great quality seasonal snacks to the group. We have lots of opportunities to sample delicious biscuits hand made in bakeries across the country. In addition we can purchase snacks like dried fruits and pistachios which are produced locally in various shops and bazaars around the country.

As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

Community

We work closely with our local operator to run this trip in a way to give as much back as possible to the local communities. Part of this is employing local leaders, who are committed to responsible tourism and helping to preserve the way of life in their area. The leaders are trained by us and will give a briefing on responsible tourism and how you can help reduce your impact and maximise the benefits to the local community from your visit. This will include how to dress respectfully.

Iranians are very welcoming, friendly people and love to practice their English so don't be surprised if a group of school girls or an elder member of the community stop you for a chat and to ask what brings you to their country.

We have provided 3 training sessions for our local tour leaders since 2015 when we started taking groups to Iran again. Since then one of our Iranian tour leaders won the Tour Leader of the Year award. The prize includes money for them to give to a local charity of their choice and to go on one of our trips as a customer. This Tour Leader went to Thailand where he joined another of our trips and was able to view our trips as a passenger and meet with other local leaders.

As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
