Description of Highlights of Andalucia holiday in Spain

Let the sun shine in on this small group tour of Andalucia. Three quite rightly famous cities pinion the trip: Granada, where you値l join a city tour and explore the courtyards and cloisters of the Alhambra; Cordoba and its rambling back streets and mega mosque; and 2,000-year-old Seville.

The Andalucian countryside ties together the cities. You値l spend a couple of nights in cobbled Castano del Robledo: your gateway to Sierra de Aracena National Park. Spectacular caves surround Aracena. Meanwhile, the Sierra Morena lays out mountains, whitewashed Andalucian villages and a syrupy slow way of life.

This Andalucia holiday balances easy city walking tours with moderate hikes through mountainous countryside. And it's all headed up by an expert guide who値l show you the secrets of the Alhambra and the most scenic footpaths in Sierra de Aracena.

Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

On this trip we visit the wonderful cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba along with a couple of nights off the beaten track in a typical Andalucian village.
What makes this trip really stand out is the opportunity to experience the slower paced life of Andalucia in the Sierra de Aracena national park. Away from the bustle of city life, cars and tourists, we walk through the verdant landscape and whitewashed villages where it is possible to glean an insight in to true rural life, in to the agricultural work which still supports the majority of the population in this part of Spain.

We stay in small, locally owned hotels which offer warm welcomes and friendly faces. We use public transport between the different cities and villages utilising the comfortable and spacious trains and buses rather than a private coach which couldn't easily access the narrow lanes in which our accommodation is nestled.

We also recommend taking a bottle with you because the tap water is safe to drink and saves wasting plastic bottles unnecessarily.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be 然esponsible in everything we do. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

The Impacts of this Trip

On this trip we support as many local businesses as we can from locally owned hotels to village restaurants. Breakfasts are provided in the hotels and villages homes, but the lunches and dinners are taken at leisure in an abundance of local restaurants. Try some of the traditional tapas, dishes and drinks throughout your stay, they are truly delicious.

There are only two family restaurants in Castano del Robledo where we are based in the Sierra Aracena, and we eat in both during our stay. The families open their doors (often purely for our group) and provide wonderful home cooked meals. We learn about the village specialities with opportunity to buy some of their famous meats and cheeses.

As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We池e members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it痴 important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.

1 Reviews of Highlights of Andalucia holiday in Spain

5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed on 08 May 2019 by

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The knowledge and enthusiasm of the tour leader which greatly enhanced our appreciation of Andalucia; the Holy week processions were a bonus

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Pack allowing for the weather to be cold and wet as well as hot and sunny. No one in our group was completely prepared for cold wet spells (while the UK baked). Book on line in the UK for visiting the Cathedral and palace in Seville allowing at least a couple of hours for each making sure you use the official sites and claim the seniors discount if applicable - can be done online when on the tour but internet connections are not always reliable and finding the right site on mobile phones caused some people problems.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Tour leader made a real effort to support local businesses and advise us on how we could help do so.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The holiday worked very well and fully met our expectations (apart from the weather) - a very good way to get a real feel for Andalucia ad its history, culture and architecture in an enjoyable and fairly active week.
