Norway cross-country ski tour

Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

This Cross Country Ski Trip is 7 days away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Traveling via only your own human power, and staying in small, isolated huts along the way. This trip offers an intimate interaction with Norwegian nature.

Choosing an adventure such as cross-country skiing minimizes that impact by taking away additional pollution in how we travel locally. By only using our own power to move through the Norwegian mountains, we reduce the contribution to pollutants in the air while still gaining an impactful and personal experience with Norwegian nature.

We are partnered with trail care organizations in Norway to ensure we are giving back to the land that we use while on our own two feet. As tourism in Norway increases, it is our responsibility to make sure travelers learn about their environment, respect nature, and minimize their impact. Trail maintenance to minimize impact and recover ecological health is imperative to keeping our nature healthy and educating users on Leave No Trace philosophy.

We have also founded a non-profit called the Cairn Foundation. This foundation supports locals in remote locations within Africa and Nepal. Any guest joining our trips will have the option to donate 1 dollar a day, or simply support a company that gives back to communities locally and globally.

Community

We are the leading provider of outdoor adventure in Norway. We are committed to setting an example of sustainable and eco-friendly tourism for the Norwegian industry, and making it competitive for other companies to meet our standards.

We partner with small, family owned businesses and support local food, accommodations, and travel. Where available, we partner and stay in beautiful, locally owned hotels or lodges that support the local economy.

On this tour, we stay at DNT mountain huts, the Norwegian Tourist Association that runs and maintains the hut systems in Norway. This organization is the foundation to allowing citizens and tourists access to the outdoors. DNT has a long history and is run mostly by volunteers. The trail systems we will be skiing on are also maintained by DNT volunteers, as well as the signage used to mark our way. By maintaining a good relationship with DNT, we help support the organization in its goals. Including trail maintenance, access, and education. These mountain huts have a promise to serve traditional and local food, straight from farm to hut. Supporting DNT supports conservation, social responsibility for our environment, and ensures Public Rights of Access for all people.
