Itinerary
Day 1: | Arrive in Bangkok - Upon arrival at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, you'll be met by a representative and transferred to your chosen accommodation. Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the evening to brief you on your itinerary and will be happy to recommend some great places to eat for your first meal in this vibrant city. |
Day 2: | Private Tour of Bangkok - Your first full day in Thailand will start with a guided tour of the capital. You’ll travel like a local using transport including klong (canal) boat, public bus, the Chao Phraya River public ferry and the elevated BTS (Skytrain). Your friendly and knowledgeable local guide will take you to Bangkok’s magnificent temples and palaces, including Thailand’s most sacred sites: the opulent Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The Grand Palace is, without doubt, the city's most famous landmark and Wat Phra Kaew, known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is regarded as the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand. |
Day 3: | Transfer to Kanchanaburi - Today, you’ll be driven west to the town of Kanchanaburi. You’ll visit the famous bridge on the River Kwai and the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery before boarding the train along the Death Railway. There is a fantastic museum, the Thai Burma Railway Museum, where you can learn more about the POW’s experiences, as well as viewing a section of the infamous Burma Death Railway. Later in the afternoon, you’ll board a longtail boat to your accommodation: a stylish tented camp set on a cliff overlooking the famous River Kwai. |
Day 4: | Explore Kanchanaburi - Today, you’ll have a free day to explore Kanchanaburi at your leisure. Visit nearby national parks, contemplate history or simply relax at your riverside accommodation. |
Day 5: | Erawan National Park & Transfer to Surat Thani - This morning you’ll head to the beautiful Erawan National Park, near the Myanmar border. The park is known for its picturesque waterfalls, particularly Erawan Falls, which cascades down seven tiers. It is also known for its limestone caves, including Phartat Cave, which has stalactites and stalagmites; Ta Duang Cave, which features rock paintings; and Wang Bah Dan Cave, which has two levels with a stream in its lower chamber. You’ll then return to Bangkok airport, where you’ll board a flight to Surat Thani in southern Thailand. From here, you’ll transfer to Khao Sok National Park. |
Day 6: | Khao Sok National Park - Khao Sok National Park is characterised by limestone mountains (known as karsts), caves, lakes, waterfalls and dense rainforest. Today, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy range of adventure activities including kayaking down the Khao Sok River, trekking through the jungle, exploring remote waterfalls and secret caves and visiting Nam Ron Hot Springs. |
Day 7: | Transfer to Koh Phi Phi - This morning, you will check out of your accommodation and take a private vehicle to the pier to board a boat across to Koh Phi Phi. The Phi Phi Islands (Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley) are located in the Andaman Sea, 48 kilometres southeast of Phuket. The islands are famous for their tropical beaches, spectacular rock formations and clear turquoise waters, which are teeming with colourful marine life. Phi Phi Don is the largest island – it is popular with tourists and has some fantastic accommodation options. Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited, however, you can visit the island to explore its beautiful bays and beaches. |
Day 8: | Explore the Phi Phi Islands - Today, you’ll have a free day to explore the Phi Phi Islands. We recommend that you hike up to the Viewpoint on Phi Phi Don to take in the spectacular panoramic views, join a sunset kayaking trip to Wang Long Bay or take a long-tail boat over to Bamboo Island. |

Day 10: | Transfer for Phuket - This morning, you will check out of your accommodation and head back to the pier to take the boat to Phuket, where you’ll stay for the next three nights. Phuket has spectacular viewpoints, lively night markets, interesting cultural attractions and beautiful beaches including Freedom Beach, Kata Beach, Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Nai Harn Beach, Kata Noi Beach or Laem Singh Beach. |
Day 11: | Hong by Starlight - This afternoon, you’ll join the famous John Gray Hong by Starlight Tour. This excursion takes you to islands in Phang Nga Bay where you can explore the caves and hongs, and you’ll also have an opportunity to kayak and swim in the turquoise waters. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a delicious Thai seafood buffet before returning to the caves and seeing the hongs lit up with bioluminescence. |
Day 12: | Explore Phuket - Today, you’ll have another free day to explore Phuket. You can visit the famous Big Buddha – an impressive 45-metre marble Buddha statue on a mountain top offering panoramic views of the island, or you may wish to take an island-hopping boat trip to discover the stunning Similan Islands, which are surrounded by clear blue seas and pristine white sand beaches (optional excursions, not included in holiday cost). Your guide will be on hand during your stay on Phuket and can assist in arranging optional activities. |

As with all of our luxury holidays, this itinerary has been crafted to ensure that it positively effects the local communities and environments visited. This itinerary includes trips to some of Thailand's protected areas of natural beauty, including Erawan National Park, Khao Sok National Park and the Phi Phi Islands. By visiting these sites (all entrance fees are included in your luxury tour), you are supporting the protection of these areas, and indicating to authorities that tourists are interested in protecting Thailand's incredible natural environments.
Whilst exploring areas of natural beauty, such as national parks and beaches, please ensure that you don’t leave any litter – everything you carry in, you must carry out. Aside from the environmental damage, litter can be harmful to wildlife.
We also make a special effort to recommend activities and accommodation providers which have responsible and sustainable initiatives. For example, if you'd like to visit an ethical elephant sanctuary, we are happy to recommend somewhere that treats the elephants in a responsible way, in line with our values. We work closely with the ethically verified Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai and can include time here on a tailor-made tour of Thailand.
People
All the local guides referred to in this itinerary are paid a fair wage. We believe that using local guides is important, as it helps generate local incomes and creates jobs, plus it offers a more authentic travel experience. We recommend independent local hotels, lodges, guesthouses and campsites, rather than international chain hotels, which helps support local communities and allows you to experience true Thai hospitality. For example, Six Senses Yao Noi, located on a remote island in Phang Nga Bay between Phuket and Krabi, has a focus on sustainability in both minimising its impact on the environment and benefiting the local community. The resort participates in the Geo-Life Clean Water Project, funds medical supplies for the island's hospital and donates to local schools for English-language programmes and sponsorships.
This Thailand holiday also includes the option for cultural experiences learning about local traditions with trips to hill tribe villages, where you can also engage in cultural exchange as part of a homestay experience (this provides traditional communities in these areas with income). What's more, getting to know a destination and the diverse people who live there means that you will have a more authentic and meaningful travel experience.
