Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Ireland luxury wellness and yoga holiday

Environment

We recognise our obligation to operate our tours in a responsible manner. It is in everyone’s interest to ensure the Irish natural environment is protected for future generations and visitors.

For this trip, we have carefully chosen luxury accommodations located in magnificent natural and scenic areas. You will be encouraged to explore the wonderful natural surroundings in a way that has a low impact on the environment: walking, cycling or kayaking. You will spend three of the five nights in Parknasilla Resort. The management and all their staff are dedicated to conducting business in a manner that reduces the impact on the environment. The resort has developed a comprehensive green policy. Their core green principles include: efficient use of energy, conservation of water, waste reduction, prevention of pollution, staff and guest awareness, introduction of eco-friendly energy production methods. As a results of their efforts, Parknasilla has been awarded the Eco-label from Green Hospitality Ireland.

We ask all of our participants who travel with us, to carefully read our Traveller’s Code before they depart for their trips. The code includes the following rules in relation to the environment:

• Respect and care for the surroundings as much as you can. Avoid picking flowers, littering the place or cluttering it unnecessarily. Try to recycle anything that can be re-used so that the environment remains clean, unpolluted and healthy.

• Make sure to only leave your footprints behind. Take care of the environment like you take care of your own residence. For instance, you can use other alternatives instead of regular plastic bags. Similarly, do not throw cigarette butts everywhere but store them in a portable container.

• Follow the local environmental guidelines so that you can play your part in preserving resources. For instance, if the accommodation where you are staying supports the re-usage of towels or sheets, try to follow it as much as you can. Remember to switch off the lights when you leave your room and turn off any equipment that is not being used.

Community

We strive to generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of the local communities we visit whilst still providing a positive and rewarding experience for our participants. We are committed to respect Ireland’s landscape, culture and heritage by bringing and educating our small group, low-impact tours to various part of the country.

We aim to develop long-term relationships with our local partners so that the economic benefit is ongoing. For this trip, we only work with local guides, the transportation is delivered by local companies and we encourage participants to support local businesses along the way.

We are committed to operating our holidays in a way that encourages positive cultural exchanges.

We ask all of our participants who travel with us, to carefully read our Traveller’s Code before they depart for their trips. The code includes the following rules in relation to the community:

• Travel with a genuine desire to learn more about Irish people and Irish culture.

• Try and buy local products rather than imported and eat locally produced food.

• Acquaint yourself with local customs before departure.

• Take permission from individuals before you photograph or video them. Also make sure to provide them with a copy of it later. Never take pictures of children and young people under 18 without having received the permission from their parents or guardian. Never post a picture of someone on social media without asking permission first.
