Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

We encourage that all participants bring their own water bottles when they travel with us, and clean free water is always available. We have even created a water bottle that can be purchased before departure and encourage people to use it at all stages of their journey including at the airport, on flights and whilst on their project. We are striving for all of our projects to be free of single use plastic, where it is possible.
Participants are encouraged to travel to their internships by public transport, to reduce their carbon footprint, while abroad. Restaurants that use locally sourced produce are also promoted, helping to support sustainable Ghanaian food producers.
The Impacts of this Trip
Cultural sensitivity:
We emphasise the importance of showing respect for local people and their customs in our briefing material. Participants will work alongside permanent staff in local media houses, forming close bonds and getting an insight into real life in Ghana. Our policy is to send people out in small groups or individually. This minimises the environmental and social impact that the participants have on the destination and helps them to integrate into the local community.
Journalism interns work as part of a team, they are encouraged to eat in local restaurants, to shop at local markets and to travel the country to promote positive tourism. The team on-the-ground promotes tourism that will feed back into the local economy. On day one. the country coordinator will take interns to work on their first day to help them get used to public transport. This means that interns support local drivers and reduce carbon emissions.
