Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

This tour takes place mainly by train in Finland with the exception of two taxi transfers needed. Ideally, we wish there would be a small group of 8 to 12 people taking this tour and sharing the transfers. Activities are environmentally friendly: fatbiking, paddling, aerial yoga, rowing, swimming, hiking and maybe dancing. The only motor-driven activity takes our clients by a motorboat out on lake Saimaa to see the endangered Saimaa ringed seals without disturbing their life. Each client will get information, how they can participate in funding the research and protection work carried out by WWF Finland, which has resulted in the Saimaa ringed seal population growing from 120 individuals in 1979 to 390 currently.
Sorting and recycling is a country standard in Finland. Every community takes care of its waste in an appropriate way. It is safe to drink tub water everywhere in the country and all PET bottles are refundable. We encourage our clients to pay attention to environmental issues on their tour and give them practical information as well.
People
Midsummer is the most important local summer celebration. At Midsummer all the Finns get to the countryside, cities are almost empty. Revontuli Resort was still in 1993 just a roadside motel but today a holiday resort meeting high standards. There is a dance hall within walking distance, where you can see the most authentic Finnish duo singing evergreens and dancing. At midnight, there will be a Midsummer fire, which is a real tradition. The other holiday resort has a longer history than the first resort. It has been a guesthouse since 1658. The present owner runs the business in the 11th generation. The resort is a unique combination of ecological luxury, pure local food and natural beauty of the Finnish nature.
In Finland, the distant areas are getting empty and people are moving to cities after work. Both the resorts are located in the middle of the countryside, where tourism has made it possible for the owners and their employees to stay and raise their family at the countryside.
