Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Accommodation & meals

During this trip our stay is split between two 3-star hotels located by the coast in Amalfi and Sorrento where guests can soak up the lively local atmosphere. When meals are included, seasonal, local produce will be used where possible. Where meals are not provided, there is the chance to support local businesses and to try some authentic, regional specialties including antipasti, homemade pasta, delicious Neapolitan pizza, fresh seafood and scialatielli ai frutti di mare. Both accommodations are locally owned and run by Italian residents, therefore, our stay here empowers the community by creating employment opportunities. Most of the money generated through our stay is also usually reinvested into the area, therefore, we are giving back to the places we visit.

Activity & Environment

Few holidays have as little detrimental impact on the environment and local residents as a walking trip. It is a quiet, low impact activity requiring comparatively little resources to support. Erosion on and adjacent to popular paths is a growing problem and our trip leaders encourage clients not to stray from paths to minimise this. Clients are advised to pack a reusable water bottle so they can avoid buying single use plastic bottles, and we also operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy, whereby we ensure no rubbish including plastic has been left behind in the places we visit. We do believe in leaving nothing more than just footprints, however; this walking tour actively encourages guests to chat with local people, visit local cafes and bars, purchase local produce, gifts and crafts and discover what life is really like along the Amalfi Coast.

The Impacts of this Trip

Community & Culture

Although walking the beautiful landscapes of Amalfi and Sorrento is the main highlight of this trip, there are also opportunities to experience the Italian culture when visiting Ravello and exploring the alleyways of Positano. During the free time on day five, guests can also choose to visit the iconic UNESCO site of Pompeii and uncover hidden secrets of this once buried city to further learn about some the history Italy has to offer. On this trip we also visit a family run farm established in 1898 and enjoy a homemade lunch before touring through orchards, vines and lemon groves whilst learning about the farm and its sustainable production. Any money spent here goes directly to supporting and maintaining this family business.

UK office
Through energy conservation measures and recycling policies, we are proud to be actively reducing the waste produced and our impact on the environment. We support various projects all over the world to try and give something back to the places we visit.

Group size
This small group tour has a maximum of 16 participants, meaning that we have a low impact on the communities we visit and are able to ensure that we do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people. The small number also allows us to stay in a unique, family-run hotel that cannot benefit from big coach tours and other mass tourism due to its limited size.
