Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar holiday
Description of Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar holiday
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetProperties used in this itinerary support the environment. Pioneer Camp for example is made from recycled wooden crates, has a strict recycling system and provides environmentally sustainable suites including eco-friendly flushing toilets.
We provide properties with information on how they can improve their impact on the environment from implementing recycled materials to implementing grey water irrigation systems.
We support environmental tours that educate future generations on conservation and sustainability.
We have partnered with responsible tourism companies that have environmental grading systems and causes such as Green Key Global which is an environmental grading system for establishments that meet a high standard for environmental requirements.
We run a sustainable office that is paperless with an in-house recycling system.
PeopleProperties used in this itinerary support the community.
In Arusha you can shop with a conscience by visiting a Maasai Women's Fair and also Arusha's Central Market. Arusha Coffee Lodge has a recycling system which is sent to Shanga Workshop in Arusha, where the local community transforms the glass into works of art.
Gold Zanzibar has partnered with the Sofia Luna Azzola Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the resortís owners which helps support the local community in Kendwa.
The Manor supports the local community with visits to a local Maasai village.
We promise to support properties that train or employ staff from local communities. All our guides are citizens of the country you are travelling to and our preferred lodges employ and uplift members of the local community through supportive training schemes and employment.
We will suggest volunteer programmes half day or full day for clients so they can assist with uplifting local communities and partnering with non-profit organisations. This will be rewarding experiences. You can combine the environment and community by volunteering in water-wise vegetable garden projects. We believe that by volunteering you will make a real difference in the lives of people, plants and animals and you will help improve the life of others.
We encourage travelers to connect with local communities through established organisations and refrain from giving money to beggars which can exacerbate problems.
We are happy to give advice on the local culture and ask that local communities are respected - for example by seeking permission before taking photographs of people and respect their wishes should they decline.
