Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Ivory Lodge is a founding member of the Conservation Wildlife Fund in Hwange which protects species and habitat in and around the Hwange area.
Guests will also assist in the establishment of sustainable projects including the Goat Gift Project and the Road Runner Chicken Project. You will work closely with the Conservation and Wildlife Manager and be involved in several different conservation activities, including construction of lion proof bomas, predator occupancy surveys, clean-up campaigns, monitoring for large mammals, maintaining fire guards and roads, use of trail cameras to identify species within the concession, clearing bush in the grassland and bird surveys.
Supporting a tourism supplier that meets environmental standards does not mean you will pay more.
We care about Africa – for each trip that is booked 1% of the booking fee will be donated to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre near Kruger National Park in South Africa. This organisation is involved in researching, breeding and anti-poaching initiatives and they pass on their knowledge on conservation to local communities and the general public. By travelling with us you actively contribute to the cause of wildlife conservation.
The Impacts of this Trip
Amalinda is a founding member of the Mother Africa Community Fund which assists in the protection of cultural heritage. Also have the chance to assist in local community projects that include for example working at a clinic. The community levy is used entirely in the funding of community development projects.
At Ivory Lodge guests will be involved in the dissemination of conservation knowledge to the communities through conservation education classes for the local community.
Both properties are part of the Mother Africa Trust which is involved in cultural and community support and they slogan is "Building Zimbabwe one person at a time". The levies that you pay when staying at the lodges go towards uplifting the local communities. They also encourage sharing of knowledge, experience and skills. Many communities living in and around the properties we support will depend on a relatively small name of products, services and experiences to survive and feed their families.
We suggest you do prior research to ensure you’re are aware of the local customs and if any rules are given in public spaces please follow those rules.
By increasing public interest in the country and increasing the awareness of visitors to this remarkable country, we are intern supporting and creating valuable jobs, education and much more.
We promise to support properties that train or employ staff from local communities. We have noteworthy properties that uplift communities.
The lodges are deeply routed within the communities and are committed to sustainable development, through creating opportunities that empower rural communities located in vulnerable wildlife areas in Zimbabwe. They work to create these opportunities through Education, Community Empowerment and Community Infrastructure.
