Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

While customers are able to customise accommodation on this trip, we work with and suggest a range of eco-lodges who are passionate about protecting the environment of Costa Rica. All the lodges and hotels are locally owned and adhere to sustainable practises by following the CST program. The CST (Certification for Sustainable Tourism Program) was created by the Costa Rican Tourism Board to highlight businesses who are complying with key sustainable practises. Some of the policies that they adhere to are protecting the biodiversity surrounding the lodge, using natural resources and reducing their carbon footprint where possible. For example one lodge that we work with in Sarapiqui uses solar heated water and offers environmental education programs. They also compost waste from the restaurant, recycle all materials where possible, use the sun and outdoors to dry laundry and use biodegradable cleaning products.
This tour visits various locations which are protected and offer a true insight into the nature that can be found in Costa Rica, such as Tortuguero National Park, Monteverde Cloud Forest and Sarapiqui. Each location thrusts customers into the authentic and natural environment and all it has to offer - the wildlife, plants, trees, waterfalls and beaches you will see are all second to none. We believe that by showing travellers how beautiful the natural world is and how many unique animals call it home, we are educating them in the importance of doing what we can to protect it.
As a global operator we understand the importance of promoting sustainable travel and ensuring that we are doing our part to protect the countries which we visit. We ask that all customers respect the areas they visit, leaving nothing behind and ensuring that they do not disturb the local flora and fauna by walking off the marked paths. We ask that customers listen to the local naturalist guides at all times as rules can vary in each location.
The Impacts of this Trip
This tour uses local naturalist guides and drivers throughout who are committed to showing you their home country while sticking to sustainable practises. Not only does this provide stable jobs in the tourism sector but also allows a more authentic experience for travellers and gives them peace of mind that the money they have spent is going back into the local economy. We always encourage our customers to eat in local restaurants when meals are not included on the trip and shop in smaller, artisan markets or local stores.
The tailor-made holiday offers customers a unique insight into some of the communities in Costa Rica, for example we visit a local family farm in Arenal where customers get first hand knowledge on how the farm operates and what they are doing for the local community. These experiences are invaluable when it comes to providing an authentic and educational holiday. Our guides will always do what they can to promote interaction with local communities while on the tour.
