Holiday information
Traveling by Train:
We help provide information for clients to reach Penrith Train station. From Europe travelers can get the euro star to London Liverpool Street and then a train from London Euston - Penrith (3hrs).
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
This mini break is targeted for British and Europeans to offer a mini re-set. The idea is not flying half way round the world to get the peace of the mountains, whilst accepting that not everyone has the time to get away for longer trips. Instead we can easily access Penrith using the train. There is a fast train to Penrith from London and it is connected well to the rest of the UK allowing easy access. We pick up litter when we see it and we take all our waste away with us in the 'leave no trace' mentality when we stop for our picnic lunches. We encourage travellers to bring their own bottles to refill so as to reduce single use plastic on the trip.
When we eat is Keswick we go to Fellpack restaurant where their food and drink menus make use of the best local ingredients, eating local is ideal for the environment to avoid food being flown and packaged around the world.
Our office in London uses Octopus Energy which gets electricity from renewable sources. We respect local signs to avoid eroded paths to allow nature to grow back and preserve the environment. the natural landscape tells many stories about the cultivation of the land and has been maintained as it is through sheep farming.
People
We support local communities through tourism whilst appreciating and respecting the landscape.I have formed relationships with the accommodation we use and they in turn help promote these trips via their own platform and they respect and support my work of promoting wellbeing for people.
The wellbeing nature of the treks is to de-stress and re-connect clients to nature, each other and to what they want in life, thus becoming happier and healthier and therefore be able to be of greater value and have more energy to give to their community and their loved loves going home.
We trek along public footpaths and open access land and respect the fact that we are a guest on farmers land and respect their practices for their farming despite varying views around animal welfare. Nature works in a symbiotic relationship with the farmers and the land which we do not have the education to have a judgements about.
Fellpack restaurant is a popular restaurant in Keswick where the team are all passionate about nature and the outdoors. Started by a group of friends huddled around a fire, sheltering from the rain whilst cycling from Land´s End to John O´Groats, hatching ideas. The appreciation of the nature, value, and beauty of the Lake District is of huge importance to the founders and that work there. They also offer support to people about fell routs to allow people to enjoy the Lakes on their own.
We encourage clients to buy pack lunches in Keswick from local community stores and being mindful of plastic
We visit the slate shop on Honister pass - slate was once heavily mined in the Lakes before it became a protected area. Honister Slate Mine is the last working slate mine in England and handicrafts available to buy. Many of the trekking paths are former miners tracks
