Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

We always travel with a great respect to the environment and its balance. Our aim is to preserve nature the way it is. All nature is precious, so nothing should be wasted. We try to share this philosophy with our guests and it works!

We are also passionate about the Greek flora and fauna and we impart our knowledge about them. When we walk through the countryside, we point out local architecture and wildlife and try to keep our paths clear of rubbish.

We offer one small bottle of water at the beginning of the holiday and encourage people to fill this bottle up, as the tour goes on, rather than replacing the bottle with a new one.

We inform our guests about the beauty of Slow Food. Slow Food, is calling for a more holistic EU food and farming policy, protecting by this way traditional foods and small-scale farmers in the face of a rapidly transforming continent. At a European level, many different elements of the food system are currently separately regulated by different policies and authorities, often with contradicting results. Slow Food believes, that this must change, recognizing the overlap between the different aspects of the food chain. Slow Food is calling for a shift towards an EU Common Sustainable Food Policy to enable a more holistic approach to our food, our environment, our health and our farmers in the whole Europe.

On our tour we will meet many of these producers, either by visiting their domains, where we buy their products, or at the local markets.

People

We love taking visitors to local wineries and food farms, and we organize food and wine tastings for them. We support small production, as it is difficult to compete with the industrial production, so it needs extra help to survive.

We always privilege Greek products, that risk to disappear, as it is the organic raisin and petimezi (a kind of molasses made of grapes), because they require too much work and high costs of production.

We encourage our visitors shopping in the local markets or in small shops, rather than going to the big supermarkets and our meals are offered in family taverns, where owners cook with products of the local agricultural fields and crops. All these people make a big effort using Greek products, because these are more tasty and healthier. They always use products, that can be found locally, if not they just change their plans, by cooking something different.

Sharing the same philosophy with us, day by day, they have become our friends. That's how, we do the best we can to help them to promote their small business. We help them to serve better our homeland through their work.
