Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Environment
It is not safe to drink water directly from the tap given the different minerals in water in Armenia and Iran. For customers keen to avoid buying single use plastic bottles, we encourage them to take advantage of our discounted filter Water-To-Go bottle which removes over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants in water.

We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy on this tour and our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to customers. As the focus of this trip is primarily sightseeing and walking, we aim to leave a minimal impact on the areas as possible. This includes the rural areas in Armenia and the cityscapes of Iran.

We instruct our customers not to deviate from designated walking areas so as not to upset ecosystems irrespective of the size. We encourage customers not to feed birds or other wildlife as they become reliant on tourists.

We instruct all our customers to wear suitable clothing in Iran so as not to draw attention and be respectful of other cultures.

Given most of the time is spent exploring on foot, the trip itself is low carbon. We are committed to offering low impact holidays that benefit the country and communities we visit. Given most of the time is spent exploring on foot, it is important that our staff and customers are aware of the delicate balance which exists in the places we visit and leave no trace.

The Impacts of this Trip

We employ a local guide in Armenia and another in Iran throughout the trip. It is important to us to provide employment to locals on our trip including drivers, guides, restaurant staff, hoteliers and spreading financial help as widely as possible. We only use locally owned and run hotels.

Breakfast are taken at the hotels whereas we try to use as many local restaurants as possible for lunches and dinners. This helps to spread tourist dollars throughout the communities we pass through.

All our customers are pre-warned about wearing suitable clothing, covering up and wearing a headscarf (for the females), not bringing alcohol into the country, and generally falling in line with local laws and regulations.

We cap passengers at a maximum of 18 customers so as not to impact on the environment or communities we pass through. Local services and businesses will be supported as much as possible on this trip.
