Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

We operate our holidays within the national Park and always seek advise from the parks administrators.

We respect the regions seasons and wildlife. The gorges of both the Chassezac and the Ardeche have nesting eagles and it is forbidden to climb in these area in the spring. We make our clients aware of these issues as well as any others that has been advised by the park rangers.

The beauty of the Ardeche is it's wildlife and on the river we are in a special place to be able to witness this in every season.

Respecting this environment and being able to part knowledge to our clients is a big part of our holidays.

Another of our concerns is leaving no trace – At every point on the river, on bivouac we try to have no negative impact on the physical environment.

Fastidiously clearing up after all activities and excursions. If walking by planning our routes or sticking to established trails and taking all of our waste away with us we can ensure that the impact of our presence is nominal. We encourage and facilitate the recycling or paper, glass and plastics.

We encourage the use of our minibus vehicles during holidays so that our affect on road traffic and pollution is reduced. We also strongly recommend the much greener train option to travel here; there is a direct service from London to Avignon on a Saturday and a one-stop service on all other days. We are committed to responsible travel and request feedback from our guests in order to continually improve our service and performance.

The Impacts of this Trip

One of our primary focuses within the realms of responsible travel is giving back to the local community; we aim to use 100% locally owned businesses for all of our external requirements. These include all of our suppliers for food,(local markets), and often local transport providers. We also encourage our guests to eat at least one meal in a local restaurant and buy local produce from small business.

Our holidays have many options for accommodation. Each external supplier that we use for these is a locally run business and contributes directly to the town. Our walks and sightseeing trips are planned in order to coincide with local markets and points of historical interest.

Local economy is well supported in France and even chain supermarkets supply local crop – from wine to fresh goods like eggs and fruit & vegetables, produce is placed into a cooperative; so by shopping in town clients will be supporting the community. We encourage guests to visit the markets for a chance to immerse themselves in French culture and to meet the local producers.

We do this not only because it is good for the region economically but because we feel that is will give the local population a chance to represent itself to visitors.
