Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
This sailing itinerary throughout the Saronic islands and ports of Greece has been carefully crafted to uphold our sustainable values. We aim to minimize our ecological footprint by focus on reduction of plastic and make sure that water jugs are available for refilling personal reusable water bottles. We utilize group transportation on land and educate our guests on responsible ocean practices to ensure the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean stay that way.Throughout the trip our guests will enjoy a myriad of fresh, local and sustainably produced foods prepared on board and at the carefully selected restaurants we visit together. As well, we'll visit local markets together, sampling seasonal specialties and learning about traditional farming, fishing, and more.
We'll visit a number of ancient sites, explore nature trails and relax on pristine beaches, while ensuring our guests practice “leave no trace” principles. We also prioritize several off-the-beaten path spots that receive fewer visitors than many of Greece's most-visited islands and we purposely travel in shoulder season months in order to avoid the impacts of over-tourism on the natural world.
People
Along our sailing route, we make concerted efforts to support local experiences and in-depth learning about each unique local community. We'll visit locally-run cafes, restaurants and shops, and select groceries from local markets and organic producers. The destinations and dates for our itinerary were thoughtfully chosen in order to avoid the stress that high season crowds can create, and to spread tourism dollars to businesses in slower months. The add-ons options that explore busier locales like Santorini or Athens are also created with a mind towards supporting community-owned businesses and local guides. We know that appreciating local culture is a big part of a transformative travel experience, and learning about traditions and history is best through the eyes of a local.
We are proud to support Lighthouse Relief as our community partner on this trip, donating a portion of sales to support this organization. This work is centered upon providing a dignified, respectful and empowering humanitarian response to those seeking safety and asylum in Greece. Our guests will have an opportunity to meet with members from this inspiring organization to learn more about their mission and the important impact they have had.
