Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

As a part of our efforts to be climate neutral, there will be an additional climate investment charge of NOK 250 per guest. This is donated in its entirety to forestry project in Masai Mara, Kenya. In Svalbard we work in close collaboration with the local Government to protect both fragile nature and the endangered wildlife in the Arctic.
When emphasizing and live by the saying “Leave a positive footprint” we present the history and future of the Arctic. And at the same time protect the wildlife with keeping our distance so that we don’t interrupt their day-to-day life. Take the photo and memory.
In Svalbard we protect the glaciers when we only melt fallen glacier ice. We clean the coastline on our hikes. Wildlife we protect by not interrupting their day-to-day life and keep a safe distance to both polar bears, walruses, birds and whales.
Coexisting and a sustainable Arctic is essential for Basecamp Spitsbergen - and also for the world.

As a part of our efforts to be climate neutral, there will be an additional climate investment charge of NOK 250 per guest. We offer good working conditions, a fair wage and empower employees with training opportunities. Both for sales, hotel, guides and other staff. Our staff is well educated about local conditions, and can recommend both restaurants, shops and activities in Longyearbyen, as well as tell about the history of Svalbard.
At Basecamp Hotel you can, in our small shop, buy local produced souvenirs and handcraft. From our kitchen at Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel, you are lucky to get served Arctic meals with local ingredients, produced by both our staff and trappers who work the traditional way of preserving.
