Trek in Patagonia holiday

On this trip we trek in two of the region's most spectacular national parks- the Parque Nacional los Glaciares and Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. Our entrance and camping fees will contribute towards the maintenance and protection of these beautiful wilderness areas.

Our leaders take time to advise customers about looking after the environments they are exploring. In the parks flora and wildlife are protected, so leaders will educate groups about what they can see and the importance of sticking to footpaths, not leaving litter and having minimal impact. We stay at designated campsites and leave no waste behind, including minimising our use of plastic water bottles. In Los Glaciares a large water container is supplied at the campsite to re fill bottles and whilst trekking the W route in Torres del Paine there are plenty of clean water sources to refill, directly from streams.

Our Patagonia trips concentrate on the outdoors, and some, in particular the excursion at the Perito Moreno Glacier, are incredibly educational in promoting environmental awareness. The receding glaciers are a stark reminder of the importance of practising sustainability both at home and abroad, and the Tour Leaders highlight this point while with their groups - this sparks off some interesting discussions over the dinner table.

As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

People

We employ a local trekking savvy tour leader with a passion for Patagonia that accompanies the group throughout Argentina and Chile. They are supported by local guides and support crew within each of the National Parks whom are trained and licensed to guide in the area.

During the W trek in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine we use local porters and camp at the locally owned and operated refugios. There are ideal bases for trekking the route and the group take breakfast and dinner in the refugios, supporting the community that work within the park and providing an opportunity to spend time within the communities we visit along the way.

As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
