Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Group Size: The maximum group size on this trip is 17 people. We believe that by operating small group tours we are limiting the impact that travellers have on local communities and in general using less resources than large tour groups do. Travelling with a small group allows us to use the local transport infrastructure, stay in smaller hotels and guesthouses and avoid too much disturbance of popular tourist sites.
Animal tourism - Unfortunately the standard of animal care and the level of exploitation of animals in Asia is much higher than other places in the world. This includes Laos. We are fundamentally against any form of animal exploitation for human entertainment and strongly advise our customers to avoid zoos or any animal park that allows riding on wild animals.
The Impacts of this Trip
Laos is a relatively quiet and less visited location than its neighbours of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We want to ensure that we are also supporting the local economy and communities who live here by bringing small group tours to the country and showing them what a beautiful destination it is.
Meals: Only breakfasts are included on this trip and all lunches and dinners are at the customer's own cost. Not only does this provide flexibility for our travellers to choose their dining style but our tour leaders also encourage customers to eat at local establishments and support the families who are running restaurants here.
While in Vientiane this tour visits the COPE centre to learn about the problem Laos is now facing with many unexploded devices which remain after the Vietnam War. COPE works to provide services and assistance to those who have been affected or left disabled by this and the centre is important in the wider education of the issue. The money spent or donated at the centre is used to purchase prosthetics and other mobility related devices to improve the lives of the many people living with disabilities.
