PlanetGran Canaria has a unique and biodiverse ecosystem. Because of that 43% of the island area is recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. This means the inhabitants and visitors must travel through this land with great respect. In Trilingua we aim to visit all the hidden treasures of the island causing the lowest impact possible. We cover long distances using public transport and we walk along designated paths that are specifically designed to respect endemic species. Our staff and local guides are very concerned about protecting the environment.
Water is also precious on the island, that's why at the farm we only use the necessary amount and we are very careful not to waste it.
Compost is also made from organic waste, mixed and used for the farm's soil, this way we try to respect our land by giving back as much as we can. Our trees are watered with recycled water, and of course we also separate different types of waste and use recycled paper for our notes and printed material.
PeopleAt the farm, we grow our own vegetables, so we use our own seasonal produce to prepare our delicious food. Our well kept chickens gift us with tasty and cruelty-free eggs. Whenever we need an ingredient that is not grown in our farm, we gather the remaining food from the local farmers market, helping the towns small growers and businesses.
We also work with small local businesses, booking our activities and experiences with local guides, taking great care to share our traditions and historical heritage with the curious traveller. We avoid the all inclusive ruthless business model, our goal is to make our students experience our culture and surroundings in a less crowded way, giving time to relax, reflect on the beauty of it and respect the slow pace of our people.
Our diversity is encompassed by our food, our culture, our unique climate and even our words. We love to share all this with the students and make them part of our community so they experience it as one of us.
