Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Walking has minimal impact on the environment as you provide most of the energy yourself. Also, by walking independently, and not having to worry about keeping up with a group, you set the pace so you can soak up the sights, sounds and scents of your surrounds and really get under the skin of the place you’re visiting.
We proactively encourage our clients to think about travelling responsibly too: packing light, saving water, buying locally, re-cycling all maps and route notes at the end of their trip as well as to be mindful of not leaving any rubbish behind.
UK Office:
We are well aware of the impact tourism has at home and abroad, and we make every effort to balance the environmental impact of travelling with the immense benefits sustainable tourism can bring to destinations and the people who live there. So we start in the office: we turn off all electrical equipment every night; we use energy-efficient bulbs; we measure print and paper consumption, and re-cycle wherever possible; we print our brochures on paper from sustainable sources, and send them out in bio-degradable packaging.
The Impacts of this Trip
Leaders & local suppliers:
This holiday takes you away from the tourist crowds of the Algarve to the unspoilt Sagres Peninsula, a stunning region of golden beaches, dramatic, rugged coastlines and idyllic countryside. You'll follow a mix of forest, valley and coastal trails as well as some wonderful cliff-top routes on the south coast, enjoying superb scenery as you go.
On foot, you get off the beaten track, and you’ll find that people treat you as a visitor rather than a tourist. When you’re walking from village to village, you can enjoy a relationship with locals in a way motorists passing through never can, your route starts on the west coast and follows the Rota Vicentina and Fishermen's Trail, taking you to charming villages and glorious beaches along a mix of coastal and inland paths. From Carrapateira you'll follow the course of the Sinceira River to remote Pedralva, before a fragrant forest route through pine and eucalyptus brings you to Vila do Bispo. You're in for a real experience - and some amazing views - as you make your way to Cabo de Sao Vicente, Europe's most south-westerly point, before taking in some of the area's finest beaches to round off your Algarve walking holiday. We've hand-picked a great mix of hotels for you, all with pools. Your stays range from designer chic above the bay in Sagres, to a rustic house in Pedralva, where every house in the village has been restored to provide accommodation; and a tastefully modernised pensao (coaching inn) in Vila do Bispo with a spa. We've included 3 evening meals for you so you're also free to sample the region's superb local restaurants. As with all our holidays, we encourage visitors to buy from independently-run shops & establishments where possible, supporting the local people and their families.
