Small group tour:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, travelling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week holiday, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetThis trip spends time exploring the beautiful sierras of southern Spain. This remote landscapes contain a rich wealth of fauna and flora, many of which are endemic to the area, particularly its raptors and mountain birds. The Tejeda and Almijara ranges are also renowned for large numbers of indigenous mountain goats that only a century ago were on the verge of extinction. We ensure that our walks only follow marked trails and actively encourage clients to carry all waste out of parks and not to pick flowers or disturb the natural resources.
To help leave a low carbon footprint the trip has been designed with several walks directly from and back to the hotel, requiring no transport.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
PeopleWe stay in the authentic white village of Canillas de Albaida that is little visited by tourist, providing a wonderful opportunity to experience Spanish life. The hotel is ran by Gustavo and his family with a blend of Moorish architecture, local craftsmanship and traditional decoration, giving each room an authentic Spanish character. The hotel owner, welcomes the group to eat at the restaurant, which is renowned locally for its quality food and service, with Mediterranean and regional food with Arabic influences. Alternatively, in the evenings customers can try local tapas dishes and wine in the small selection of restaurants and bars in Canillas de Albaida, helping to boost the local economy.
We travel along ancient pathways to discover a traditional and quieter side to Spain. Accompanied by a local leader our customer will get a insight into this area fascinating history, walking to the well preserved historic town of Competa and the old Moorish village of Salares.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
